Okay, if I could pick one outfit to spend the rest of the summer in, this would be it. Loose on top, short on bottom — I’m so comfortable in that formula. Plus I love the mixture of romantic (ballet flats), sporty (running shorts), and classic (button up shirt).
And speaking of romantic, sporty, and classic — I think those miiiiiight be my three style words? I still have a hard time limiting myself to three concise terms, so I’m kinda viewing them as buckets instead. That way they can hold other similar ideas — like, the classic bucket would include minimalist too, the sporty bucket would include my “summer camp” style, etc. Anyway, it’s all a work in progress. :)
Ballet flats again! Twice in one week! I love them with this look. I could have easily worn a sneaker, but I feel like the flats add more friction to the look. That little touch of romance really makes the outfit pop.
These ballerinas sat in my closet, unworn and untouched for eight months prior to this week. But here we are today — they’ve taken me by storm and I keep reaching for them. A total delight when that happens!
(Although, I gotta be honest — these are not the most comfortable flats, so I may look for another pair. Kinda loving these or these.)
I feel so settled in this outfit. Big yes.

I think these are great words for you! I also love the idea that you can see them as something you can dial up or down: like you could crank up the romance with a floaty dress but make it feel a bit sporty with a tote or sneakers. Or you could go full sporty or classic minimalist and add a tiny romantic detail like pearl earrings or an anklet or red nail polish. That’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately for myself, that there doesn’t need to be balance in the style words or themes. Integrating one style word can be as simple as the fit or tailoring on an item or the way I do my makeup that day.
