So, it’s hot outside. And if you’re wanting to zhuzh up your simple black dress, how about tying something around your waist? It’s one of my favorite ways to add depth to an outfit when it’s too hot to add an actual layer.
For a button up shirt, I like to tie it high on my waist and ever so slightly off center. That hint of asymmetry gives everything an unbothered feel.

In other news…I feel it happening.
Summer is here and I’m drawn to simpler clothes. Neutrals, clean lines, easy pieces. It sounds absolutely wonderful to spend less time and energy on my clothes.
And all of a sudden, I’m like, “Should I do a capsule wardrobe?!”
Ahh, the promise of a perfect, compact, do-it-all wardrobe tickles my type A sensibilities like one of those wire head scratchers. Chills! CHILLS!
But did you catch it? The P-word: perfect.
That’s my catch-22 with capsules — I find them endlessly fun and fascinating, but I can also get tripped up in the pursuit of (non-existent) perfection.
So anyway. I’m still kind of tossing the idea around. We’ll see if I do one or not.
Maybe I’ll scratch the itch with something smaller like a 10×10 challenge (10 garments mixed’n’matched over 10 days). Would you guys be interested in joining me?
