I keep this note on my phone (and it makes outfit-building a cinch)

I’ve started a note on my phone called Outfit Starters. It isn’t complete outfit ideas, but rather, pairings that pique my interest right now. It could be colors, accessories, anything really. My current list includes:

khaki + grey
ballet flat + anklet
bike shorts + cowboy boots
camel + blood orange
parachute pants + clogs
chain necklace + cord necklace

Take this outfit for example. Denim on denim is a classic, but it hasn’t been feeling all that exciting to me lately. However, I have been really excited about the chain necklace + cord necklace pairing lately. So I actually started building the outfit with those necklaces as my starting point. The denim and denim just kind of fell together and I ended up loving the look.

I’ve been amazed to see how these little ideas can propel me to full outfit status before I know it. The key is to keep this list edited, and only include things that feel energizing right now. Sometimes you don’t need a full outfit idea, just a spark to get started.
