Hello and happy new year! How were your holidays?
I’ve been easing into 2024 at my own pace. Sometimes I love the goal setting, vision-casting, and routine shake-ups that come with the start of January — other times they make me anxious and become counterproductive. This year I’ve been somewhere in the middle — ready for some changes, but not attached to the idea of implementing said changes on January 1st. I’ve just been taking my time.
I have been doing a lot of dreaming, planning, and thinking about this blog though. I want to make this space more helpful and intentional, so I’d love to hear your thoughts — should I stick with an outfit post per day, or should I switch to a once-a-week, “here’s all 5-ish outfits I wore this week” recap post? Let me know your preference in the comments if you have a sec. For now, we’ll stick with daily posts, but I’m going to date them so you know when I wore each outfit. So let’s start with yesterday!
Monday 1/8 • All I needed was a casual look for a day of running errands, but I wanted to feel VIBRANT! This need to feel vibrant in my clothes has been growing steadily for some time. When I peer into my closet, there’s a lot more color in there — and bold color at that! I mean HELLO RED! As a person who tends to lean minimalist and neutral, I have to admit, I’m not used to seeing that much color in there. But I like having options when I’m craving vibrancy.
As I stray further from my beloved neutrals and into this world of color, my strategy is to limit one color per outfit — this allows me to embrace color and still feel like myself. Notice how everything in this outfit is neutral, except the jacket. This keeps it from tipping into maximalist territory.
I think I’ve recently unlocked a key component of my winter style — the fleece jacket! This fleece from Free People is casual, sporty, and cozy — it pretty much nails all of my style words for winter — but this bright shade of red feels anything but basic. It instantly livens up a simple jeans-and-sneakers outfit.

Hi Caroline, happy new year! I’ve been feeling the same: thinking about my intentions for this year, but not putting pressure on myself to make it all happen right at the start. There are some things I want to achieve and am already working towards them, but in general I feel like I need a sense of ease in my life.
As for the format, I personally appreciate the daily posts! The small observations you make, those a-ha moments you have about your style as a result of wearing a specific outfit—I find them helpful in applying the same mindset of self-reflection to my own style and wardrobe. Maybe it’s me, but I have an inkling that weekly posts would feel more analytical and less spontaneous. When they come in daily portions it very much feels like any day could uncover something, like every day is an opportunity to learn and discover something new—I like being reminded of that :)
Good point about the daily posts- I agree! :)
I loved reading your thoughtful and kind comment Ania! It made my day. Thank you for taking the time to share — and I agree with you, I think daily posts help me stay more present and in the moment with things. :)
I agree with this! I love the daily posts and thoughtful consideration of what makes an outfit work for you — I’ve applied a lot of the things you’ve shared to my own style! Really glad you’re back to blogging :)
Happy New Year and thanks for sharing your style journey!
I like the daily posts :)
Hi there! I enjoy the daily posts!
I enjoy the daily posts!
Didn’t know I needed this jacket until now 😍 also I love a daily post too but ultimately do what feels sustainable to you 🖤
Thank you Nicole! <3
Hi Caroline, my absolute favourites are capsule posts and packing posts, but I will be happy to read anything you post! So whatever format suits you most will be great!
Love to hear it Cristina! I’ll try to do more packing/capsule posts this year. :)
Thank you for the daily posts! They give me the message of
“Live Simply” all the while knowing who you are.
Like stated above, I was not aware this coat …. in my life. Yes!
I had one like this in the 70’s❤️yup- I am retired and loving your posts helping me accept the everyday and not having to always “dress” as I did when I taught in the college environment. I thought the transition would be easier re: dressing and choices, but not so. Even at my senior age, I am learning all over again and am grateful for your transparency in moving into what really matters most!
Excited to open the coat when it arrives! Maybe the key to a new, more relaxed assured me❤️too!
Hi Patricia! I loved reading your thoughts here. Thank you for taking the time to share. As much as I consider myself a lifelong learner, there’s often this conflicting expectation that I should have it all figured out by now. Your comment was so refreshing and reminded me to embrace being a beginner, stay open, and enjoy the process. Also, yes, isn’t the red jacket so good? I love it!
daily posts. love reading as part of my morning creative routine. ❤️
I can’t tell you how much this means to me, Chantel! I’m honored!
I love the daily and look forward to them but do what works best for you!
Daily posts are great. Love the quick glimpse into your life and style.
The red fleece is excellent! The color is so vivid and it looks cozy.
I love the daily posts, too! It gives me something delightful to look forward to each day. But of course, do what is best for you. (And I love the way you are easing into the new year on your own terms.)
That means so much to me Ally, thank you!
I enjoy your daily post, please.
Thanks.
