Ugh, that feeling when nothing feels right!
Today, all of my usual go-to’s — the outfits that worked last week, the ones I usually don’t think twice about — just felt off. Uncomfortable. Wrong.
But, we all know we gotta wear clothes! So I put something on — this fit — and went about my day.
Here’s the thing: some days are just like that. And not only is it normal, it’s to be expected.
You can go a whole week, even two, feeling great about your style…and then, suddenly, you hit a wall. Nothing feels like you. Nothing feels quite right.
That doesn’t mean you’re off track. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed personal style. That doesn’t mean you need to go shopping or reinvent yourself or fix something.
It just means you’re having a day where nothing feels right. That’s all. :)
So don’t read into it. Don’t panic. Don’t make any sweeping changes.
Trust that your sense of style is still there. Find some clothes that work fine and let that be enough for the moment.

Thanks for reading Unfancy — it means so much to me that you’re here. <3

I need to print this post and put it up in my closet!
I love this fit, Caroline – it’s so you! Romantic brain, minimal/polished button down, sporty hat + shorts – total perfection.
Thank you for this!
I have noticed that more often than not, my response to nothing feeling right in the world is to simultaneously get perfectionistic about my wardrobe/what I wear each day and to feel like I don’t even have the energy to put together the most basic of outfits.
Your posts are a breath of fresh air, and I can feel the fists in my mind unclench when I read them. You remind us that we are getting dressed for ourselves, and that feeling great (or even good enough) is what helps us be more present for others. Thank you!
I relate to this feeling so much Jen! I go into that vicious perfectionist/despairing loop too. Thank you for taking the time to share such kind words with me — you don’t know how much they mean to me. <3
It’s my pleasure, Caroline!
And thank YOU!
We got this.
