You can tell by my smile that I’m incredibly happy with the way this outfit came together. And my favorite little detail? THE PEARL NECKLACE. Isn’t it just the best little touch? I love my sporty style, but I don’t want it to become one-note-athleisure, so I’m always looking for ways to add dimension to it. And to me, that pearl necklace is that little note of contrast. Who puts pearls with athletic clothes?! I do! (And I’m sure lots of other people too, but let me enjoy my moment of feeling inventive.)
Another point of contrast in this look? The bag. The outfit was already sporty enough, so I decided to wear a real bag instead of my canvas bag. I’ve been having a reckoning with the fact that I don’t love to wear real bags this year — I’d much rather wear a canvas bag with most looks. But at the same time, as a stylist, I value what a good bag can do for an outfit. Anyway, it felt great to wear my beloved Polene bag with this look.
