Happy first day of spring! <3
I love jeans but I love soft pants more — it’s officially the year of the track pant!
When a new season starts, I like to hone in on about 7 outfit formulas — loose, open-ended outfit ideas that I can repeat or modify for different situations.
Outfit formulas are nothing new, but I’ve recently started writing them in a new format. I start with bottoms and then give three options for tops.
So here’s my first outfit formula for spring:
TRACK PANTS and a(n)
c) moto jacket (like today!)
Pick one and accessorize accordingly.
Kinda fun right? Nothing so easy as multiple choice dressing. While I love pouring my creative energy in to dressing, sometimes I just need to put my closet on autopilot.
P.S. In case you missed it, everything at Madewell is 25% off right now — I shared a handful of my faves from their new arrivals if you want to check it out.

I love this idea of coming up with some go to outfit formulas at the start of a new season! Also, cobalt blue is one of my favorite colors! I’m really into the idea of track pants as I live in a hot climate and jeans will be unbearable soon, but I don’t always want to be in shorts or a dress/skirt. I don’t own a pair yet but I’m on the lookout!
I’m SO into track pants this year! They are comfortable and have a playful vibe, but you can dress them up easily too. Just FYI, these particular track pants are lined, so they probably aren’t the best option for hot weather. They are more of a winter/spring pant. :)
