A short, loose sweater dress with boots is quite possibly my favorite combo for fall. Since we’re still having plenty of mild days in Texas, this is my go-to look if I’m grabbing dinner with a friend or going to a casual event.
Cowboy boots are giving me life right now. They don’t take themselves too seriously, they don’t say “serious fashion person” and I just love their energy. I haven’t had cowboy boots in my closet in a long, long time — I always thought my style was definitely not western. And it’s true, I wouldn’t call my style western even now, but I am realizing the value of adding a dash of a contrasting style to the mix. Injecting a hint of western into my usual sporty/minimal vibe brings so much ENERGY to a look — and puts a spring in my step! Who knew?
Anyway, I’m in a phase where I’m experimenting with my style and trying things I wouldn’t normally try — it’s so fun to have these little discoveries and find new things I love. You never know until you try.
So, tell me, what contrasting elements could you add to your current style to give it some zing and pep?
