Wednesday, January 17th • I was feeling so fine when I left the house today only to spill bright green matcha right down the middle of my white shirt within the hour. Womp womp.
Well, before the matcha mishap, it was a great fit. I folded up my white tee so I could get a crop top look without committing to an actual crop top all day. For me, the thrill of wearing a crop top wears off within about 20 minutes and then I just want to be wearing a regular, non-midriff-baring shirt. But it’s nice to have the option and lean into the crop for a little bit.
This look really started to come alive once I put pearls on. At first glance, I would consider pearls to be too classic for my style, but I’m so glad I tried out this inexpensive strand — they come in handy when I need dash of classic to offset a sporty look.
Of course, the real hero of this outfit is this amazing denim coat. It’s a compliment magnet. Plus it’s warm and cozy with that sherpa lining. And while it has major style points, it’s hardy and not precious at all. It really came through today — I was able to pull it closed over my matcha-stained shirt, and just like that, the outfit was saved.

Hey Caroline! This is Jenny Black. I woke up this morning with an idea that I think you might love. We talked a few years ago about research I was doing on media trauma. I am still so thankful for your insights. Anyway, that has turned into a podcast and in yesterday’s recording, I thought of some new strategies for making life with your phone healthier.
