Tuesday, January 22 • So this morning was rainy, but not wildly cold. I didn’t want to wear floor-grazing pants that might get wet, so my creative solution was to go pantsless. I fell back on one of my favorite uniforms: a short, loose sweater dress with tall boots. Then I personalized the look with sporty touches: a nylon jacket, baseball cap, and a canvas tote. I absolutely love the way it all came together.
I finally filled a gap in my wardrobe and got tall flat boots! This is so exciting for my closet, because it means I can wear my sweater dresses in more casual settings, instead of reserving them for fancier outings (with my heeled boots).
It feels so good when a purchase actually expands the usefulness of your existing wardrobe — as opposed to a purchase that requires you to buy more things before you can use it. There’s a place for both in thoughtful wardrobe-building, but at this point in the season, I’m trying to keep winter purchases to a minimum.
I always wear bike shorts underneath my dresses, so yep, I’ve got bike shorts under there. Plus my favorite loose, long sleeve cotton tee. I basically have a walking fit on under my dress. You know, just in case.
