Tuesday 1/9 • It was cold and windy this morning, so I bundled up more than usual. Leggings under the parachute pants. Warm wooly socks. Then three layers on top so I could shed or add as needed, depending on which table I could get at my coffee shop. Sometimes the only available table is the one right by the door, and you know what that means — you’ve got to be prepared for those blasts of frigid air when anyone comes or goes. (Thankfully I was able to snag a table in the cozy center of the shop.)
I haven’t worn these parachute pants in a while, but they felt right today. I love it when that happens — when you get fresh styling inspo for a piece you’ve fallen out of love with. The fresh inspo came in the form of another garment — this AMAZING DENIM COAT. Wow, I can safely say it was the best purchase I made over the holiday break. It’s non-fussy, yet it brings *major attitude* to an outfit.
This coat is an especially helpful addition to my wardrobe right now because we are at that point in winter where (not to be dramatic, but) I give up on fashion. It’s dark and cold and generally bummer weather. Plus, my homebody is in high gear which means getting out of the house comes with enormous resistance. So, more often than not, I put on leggings and a sweatshirt, and say “Welp” to myself in the mirror on the way out.
BUT. If I put this coat on over leggings and a sweatshirt, suddenly it’s a lewk and everyone is complimenting my outfit. (For reals, though. Everyone comments on this coat. It’s fun.) Little do they know I didn’t have the bandwidth for outfit-making that day. I just know a good coat when I see one.
