DAILY OUTFITS

How to influence yourself

05/23/25

Documenting your outfits is *the* style hack. Truly. Because I’m willing to bet that if you looked back at what you wore last summer, you’d find so many outfits you still love — and would totally wear again — but maybe you’ve just forgotten about them.

If I didn’t document my outfits, I wouldn’t remember half of them. But because I do, I’ve got this whole archive of looks. And right now, I’m drawing most of my outfit inspo from photos I took last summer.

It’s so satisfying!

Like being influenced…by myself. Not to buy something new. Not to become a whole new person. But to remember what I already love. To use what I already have. To remind myself that I once wished for this little linen dress I got last summer and am wearing today.

So here’s your gentle nudge: start an album on your phone and try documenting your outfits for a week. Then maybe another week. See how it feels.

The goal isn’t to go full influencer mode and photograph them in beautiful locations (unless you just want to), but to simply document your looks to remind you of what you love.

Style evolves, yes. But it also circles back. Document it — and let your past self inspire your present.

P.S. You know what’s cute? In college, I used to take photos of my outfits, print them out, and paste them into a binder to make a scrapbook-meets-magazine. Honestly, it was so creatively fulfilling and playfully silly that I’m wondering if I should I start doing this again? Anyone else interested? Having a hobby that gets us off our screens is never a bad idea.
