Sometimes I use a word or two to guide me as I get dressed in the morning.
This morning’s words?
Cozy and simple.
Not only do these words set the tone for my outfit, they also help me clarify what I’m NOT trying to do with my outfit. Not trying to have a fashion moment here, not trying to do anything groundbreaking.
After recently getting kind of swept up in this expectation that every outfit I wear should be WiLdLy iNvEnTiVe aNd oRiGiNaL, I made a hard return to the familiar, the not-trying, the expected. Athletic shorts and an oversized, cozy sweater — AKA the things I love to wear the most.
I think it’s completely natural to go through more experimental phases, and then go through ordinary phases. There’s room for both. Both are good!
What I know is that, at this particular moment, it feels so good to dress in my style comfort zone.
Cozy and simple. Check and check.

I feel this post so much. I’ve happily been parked in the comfort zone for 10+ years. I’m still doing skinny jeans, sneakers, and mostly athletic tops. Most of it is even still the same stuff from the early 2010’s haha! Literally zero style but I’m so comfortable every day! I have to say though, sticking to what works is made easier by following you and a few others whose style I love. It scratches the itch of craving newness but I’m happy to admire your vibe while keepin mine. So thank you for being you!
