This post is sponsored by Everlane and all Everlane items I’m featuring in this post were gifted. When it comes to brands I’m proud to work with, Everlane is at the very top — they were one of the very first responsible brands I learned about several years back and I’m thrilled to partner with a company that places high value on transparency and sustainable practices. This post is part three in a three-part summer series.

I thoroughly enjoy this time of year, with all of its seasonal tension.
In Texas, it’s hot as hell outside and we have plenty of pool days left — but my mind is wandering to fall and sweaters and boots and the like.
I know that might induce a few eye rolls, but personally, I’m enjoying having one foot in summer and one foot in fall. It’s an opportunity to experience both of my favorite seasons at the same time, to enjoy the end of summer and look forward to a fun fall too.
So how about a little early-fall style talk today?
When fall is on the horizon (but not quite here yet), I shift my attention to transitional clothes — items that channel fall through texture and color, but are still breezy enough for the last of the summer heat.
So in today’s post, I’ll share 5 Everlane items that’ll help you transition your closet to fall. From ribbed textures, to dark-wash denim, to cozy suede, each item channels fall in its own subtle way.
Let’s jump in!
Wearing: The Pima Micro Rib Funnel Neck Tank (Black, S) | The Cheeky Straight Jean (Faded Indigo, 25 Regular) | The Editor Heel (Black, 7) | Vintage Belt | Similar Tote
Item Spotlight: The Pima Micro Rib Funnel Neck Tank
Allow me to introduce you to my favorite shirt at Everlane right now.
First of all, the fabric — pima micro rib. It’s soft, stretchy, substantial and chic. Ribbing is one of my favorite ways to channel fall because the texture gives a subtle sweater impression. However, the fabric content is primarily cotton, meaning it’s lightweight enough to wear in the heat.
Second, the cut — a sleeveless funnel neck. A high neck gives a nod to fall, but when it’s too hot to reach for a turtleneck (or even a mock neck) the funnel neck is perfect.
A few styling ideas? Try it tucked into a leopard slip skirt, a pair of pleated high-rise trousers, or your favorite pair of jeans.
Wearing: The Clean Silk Square Shirt (Black, 2) | The Patch Pocket Skirt (Bone, 0) | The Editor Heel (Black, 7) | Vintage Belt
Item Spotlight: The Suede Editor Heel
Nothing channels fall quite like getting a touch of suede into your outfit, and shoes are an easy place to start. It may be too hot to wear boots, so go for a versatile suede pump (or flat).
Reviews are mixed on these heels, and mine still need a bit of breaking in to be honest. My plan is to get a comfy pair of insoles for them, moleskin the hot spots (I do this for literally all of my shoes), and wear them around the house with socks to help them break in. I have high hopes for these beautiful, timeless heels.
If pointed toe shoes aren’t your thing, Everlane also has their Day Heel in suede (with a block heel and rounded toe) too.
Wearing: The Air Oversized Crew Tee (White, M) | The Cotton-Linen Blazer (Bone, 0)| The Cheeky Straight Jean (Washed Black, 25 Ankle) | The Editor Heel (Black, 7) | Similar Tote
Item Spotlight: The Cheeky Straight Jean
These jeans have absolutely wowed me! Honestly, the pictures don’t even do them justice. I’ve been a fan of Everlane’s Cigarette jean since last fall, but I think I like these even more. The wash is perfect, the waist doesn’t gap, and they have the perfect amount of stretch to ’em. Plus, straight leg jeans are all I want to wear these days. Once it cools down more, I plan to pair them with sock booties.
For another look at the same cut, scroll back up to the first outfit — it’s the same Cheeky Straight Jean in an indigo wash.
Wearing: The Poplin Oversized Shirt (White, 0) | The Summer Jean (Vintage Light Blue, 25) | | The Editor Heel (Black, 7)
Item Spotlight: The Poplin Oversized Shirt
This shirt really surprised me. I don’t recall ever wearing a crisp, white poplin shirt — ever. And yet, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reached for it this summer. It’s just so cool and light and effortlessly chic. I like pairing it with bike shorts, jean shorts, jeans (like above), or rumpled linen shorts. It’s going to transition beautifully into fall.
Bonus Item Spotlight: The Summer Jean
Okay, I can’t help myself. I have to mention these jeans too. They sit lower on the hips, like boyfriend jeans, and are BEYOND comfortable. On those days when you just don’t want to deal with a high rise, reach for these. I imagine pairing them with lots of slouchy, long sweaters (untucked!) once the temperatures drop.
Wearing: The Cashmere Round Rib Crew (Ivory, L) | The Cheeky Straight Jean (Bone, 25 Ankle) | The Editor Heel (Black, 7) | Similar Tote
Item Spotlight: The Cashmere Round Rib Crew
If I could give you one sweater recommendation this year, this would be it. It ticks all the boxes: Cozy cashmere. Modern cut and design (those drop sleeves and contrasting ribbed texture!). The quality for the price is unbeatable. And since it’s responsibly made, it feels as good from the inside as it looks on the outside. I’m very, VERY excited about this one.
Quick fit note: I sized up 2 sizes for an even more oversized fit.

xo,
Love your post! I hadn’t heard of Everlane before, but I checked them out and I really like their clothing. Thanks for sharing.
I liked the idea of the Summer Jeans (something I’ve always thought would be a great idea). When I looked at the reviews on the Everlane website, people were complaining that when they were washed the back patch bled onto the jeans and other clothes in the load – even in cold water. So be careful to at least wash separately.
Great outfits! I’ve been following you for three or four years now and I find I love your style evolution towards something more chic (but still minimal and easy to recreate) these days.
Happy top say, that after following your style suggstions for several years, all I need to add is this creamy sweater. With the add of a pair of sneakers and jacket, this is a classic travel pack too!

I was all excited about checking several of these items over at Everlane, but they won’t let me just look: they want me to give them my email first. WHAT!? I am so tired of this. Let me look first. If I like you, I will happily sign up for emails.
I’ve been reading your emails for several years now and have really enjoyed your ideas.
Keep it up!?
Joy, just x out of that box that wants your email on the Everlane site and you can browse to your heart’s content! I love Everlane and have more pieces of clothing from them than I can count. Thanks for this post, Caroline!
On the Canadian West Coast Fall comes early, so this post was perfect timing! Loved all these looks, especially number 5! That cashmere is to die for! <3
It all feels a bit 80s to me. I don’t know how I feel about that a second time around. But I love Everlane
You are so lucky living in Texas! It is more definitely fall where I live (northern Canada), it was only 2 degrees this morning! I love the look of the Everlane jeans. I am definitely going to pick up a pair once my current no new buy challenge is over:)
Good basics! That’s the best to start with when new collections come out!
Hi Caroline! Love these outfits, love Everlane. I’m thinking about getting the cheeky straight jeans in bone. Have you had any issues with them losing shape?
These are all really cute options! I really am loving the black jeans especially.

Hi Caroline!
I love all of the Everlane styling you’ve been doing! The cheeky straight jeans look amazing! I just bought their cropped carpenter pants in white and fell in love with them. I also bought the air tee in white (I thought it would be perfect for the 100+ degree, high humidity weather where I live), and liked the lightweight fabric, but am unsure how to style it. It’s very sheer, and I can’t seem to find a bra that doesn’t show underneath…
love all these looks but also so not ready to think about fall (that creamy sweater is so good)! I just narrowed down my summer essentials and am living in shorts until I can. even though i’m so excited for fall, I’m dragging out summer for as long as possible: https://tps-steph.blogspot.com/2019/08/0045-summer-surviving-thriving.html
Thanks for sharing! Love the way these pieces will transition between seasons.
Love the white poplin! Is it pretty thick material, or more see through?

Hi Caroline! For the Cheeky Straight Jeans, did you go down a size or order your typical fit? I have Everlane’s High-Rise Cigarette Jeans in a size 26 (ankle, because I’m only 5’2), and they fit perfectly! I also have the Wide Leg Crop Pant in a size 2 Short, and that’s another perfect fit.
I saw on the website it says some people in their office like to size down for the Cheeky Straight, so just wondering if that’s what you did here!
Thanks in advance :)
Those heels look so stylish, yet a reasonable height where I could actually see myself wearing them on a day to day. And that cashmere sweater… such a good basic! I might add it to my Christmas wishlist <3

I love these outfits! Autumn is my favourite season, too. I always really enjoy rusts, mustards, and forest greens around that time of the year.
I’m a big fan of the funnel neck, too! It adds a more classy feel to the tucked in jeans look. I might have to look into getting one :)
