The best thing about personal style?
It doesn’t have to be all one thing.
I used to think “having good style” meant picking one style and never deviating from it. For a long time, I tried to force myself to do that. But you know what? It didn’t give me good style — in fact, it zapped all the joy, growth, and curiosity out of one of my favorite things.
Once I realized personal style is meant to be multi-faceted, the whole thing got more light and fun and free.
I may wear a romantic dress one day, and then men’s jeans the next. I may wear bold color one day, then neutrals the next. I may wear sporty clothes one day, then a more polished look (like today) the next. There’s room for all of it to exist within my style.
In a way, when I look in my closet, it reminds me:
I am more than one thing.

I love this!
I came to a similar realization with my house. I thought it had to look a certain way to be ‘in style’ but it was hard because I didn’t only like one style of decor! I’m not only modern farmhouse or mid century – I can be both and more!
I am slowing realizing this with my closet as well and I agree! It’s waayy more fun!
I’ve struggled with the same belief! OMG. Thank you so much for sharing this. Now I feel so much bette and free :).
I can relate to this 1000%! I used to be the same way, I love bohemian style earrings and always felt like I had to wear bohemian clothes to match. Now I’m like nope! I’ll wear my fringe earrings with whatever I feel like that day!
Love your posts! Beautiful and SO helpful!
Grateful for the reminders of authenticity in style.
Keep these coming- “awakening” posts 🍃🌹🍃🌹
What’s your take on the Charts Comfort sandals? Have you had them long? Worth the investment? I’m not familiar with the company so any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you and love your posts!
Hi Amy! I’ve had the original Charys Sandal (not the comfort version) for about 3 years now. The quality is incredible and arch support is unreal. The only downside is that the shoe itself is a little heavy. However, I believe the comfort version is a good deal lighter. As far as sizing goes, I find that Ancient Greek Sandals run a little small. I’m usually a 7-7.5 in a sandal, but I’m an 8/38 in their sandals. I’m interested in trying a pair of their comfort sandals sometime soon because their quality is so high — they feel like the kind of sandals that will last you 10+ years.
Late comment that I agree with that — one can be many different things/moods — big challenge for me is trying to make it all somewhat cohesive in my closet… so I’m not buying for 1 specific outfit that can’t overlap in items with another specific outfit… sigh.
