Outfits: Spring, Packing Guides

spring travel wardrobe: the outfits!

04/14/22

On Monday I posted my spring travel wardrobe for a week-long trip, and a couple of you asked to see the outfits I made from the packing list. While I didn’t take any outfit photos on my actual trip, I’ve recreated the looks I wore for today’s post! I hope seeing these outfits gives you a better sense of how the travel wardrobe worked for me, not just in theory but in real life.

As a quick refresher, my spring travel wardrobe included a total of 18 pieces — 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 2 shoes, 1 dress, 1 coat, and 5 accessories. Have a look, and then we’ll jump into the outfits.

Outfits

SUNDAY

Sunday was just a travel day, so I kept it comfy with joggers. My new favorite thing is french-tucking a poplin button down into sporty joggers.

MONDAY

I spent most of my day working at a coffee shop, so I dressed casual and comfortable in jeans and a cropped hoodie. Later that evening, we had a family dinner at home. I was loving this outfit, so I just kept it on.

TUESDAY

It was another morning working from a coffee shop, but my mom and I had plans to meet for lunch at a cute cafe that afternoon, so I opted for a slightly more chic, put-together outfit. Jewelry and a chic bag complete the look.

That evening, my parents and I went out to a nice dinner, so I wore my dress. It’s a sports dress and there’s a small logo on the upper back of the dress, so when I really want to dress it up, I hide the logo by tying a sweater around my shoulders. I have to admit I LOVE the pop of bright color!

WEDNESDAY

You guessed it — it was another morning at a coffee shop working. This morning was rainy and chilly, so I kept cozy with jeans and a sweater. I didn’t include my coat in any of these outfit photos, but this was one morning where I wore it and was so happy I had packed it.

That night, I went over to a friend’s house for dinner. Gosh, friend time is so good for the soul! I kept things simple and comfortable (but still very chic) with jeans and a tank. I also brought along my black hoodie in case I got chilly.

A black, high neck tank top can be a super hero when it comes to travel — it takes up virtually no room in a suitcase, but it covers a wide range of needs, from working out to going out. Same with jewelry — I packed my silver necklace and hoop earrings and wore them every single day. They added a finishing touch to every outfit.

THURSDAY

Yep, another relaxed outfit for another morning working at a coffee shop.

In the afternoon, I met up with a friend for a nice long walk. I wore my hat for sun protection, and I topped my sports bra with my hoodie since it was breezy.

That evening, I met up with my whole family for a casual dinner out. I popped a hoodie on top of my sports dress for an easy, casual-but-cute outfit.

FRIDAY

Since I was staying with my parents, I did a load of laundry first thing in the morning — my tank tops and a few other pieces were in need of refreshment at this point.

Planning for laundry is an important part of the packing process. Since I knew I’d have access to laundry on this trip, I was able to pack a bit less. However, if I were staying somewhere without laundry access, I would have probably packed a few more tank tops and possibly even a second dress.

Another casual outfit for another day spent working at a coffee shop. I was feeling colorful and springy, so I wore my green ball cap and green sweater tied around my shoulders.

That evening, I met up with a friend for happy hour. I realized I wore almost the exact same outfit to dinner on Wednesday, but hey, when it works, it works. Apparently jeans and a black tank top is a go-to “going out” look for me.

SATURDAY

This morning was so fun — we took my nephews to the zoo. I wore a hat for sun protection, sneakers to stay comfortable for lots of walking, and a sweatshirt to ward off the morning chill.

That night we had a chill dinner at home with the whole fam. I kept things comfy in bike shorts and a loose button down.

SUNDAY

On Sunday, it was time to head back home. I opted for comfortable joggers and a hoodie for the three hour drive back home.

    Thanks! Great ideas!
Even though I have a less unfancy style this serves as an incredibly helpful guide. I can just add here and there.

I don’t know if you’re interested in removing the logo on your dress, but I had a yoga top that I liked to wear as a normal top with a logo that I wanted removed. Acetone/nail polish remover took the logo off really cleanly. It was a different brand (Alo Yoga) but probably used a similar printing process.

That’s a great idea Jane! I am interested in removing the logo — I feel the dress would be more versatile that way, so I may have to give that a try. Also, I love Alo Yoga’s stuff, but I never purchase because I don’t like the visible logo — good to know it’s removable! Thanks for the tip. <3
