It started with the best of intentions.
I was sitting cross legged on my bed, gentle lamplight spilling across the duvet, when I decided to hop on my phone to find new ways to style my white pants. Which led me to striped sweaters, which led me to denim maxi skirts, which led me to chunky sandals, which led me to canvas bucket hats, which led me to…
And just like that, it was 3 weeks later.
Well, that’s what it felt like anyway.
Inspiration had quickly morphed into inspiration overload.
I love that there’s so much inspiring stuff out there *and* I also notice that it’s harder to stay grounded in my own personal style when I consume too much fashion content.
So when I’m feeling a little untethered, it helps to put my focus back on familiar pieces I know and love — like a simple dress, a good pair of sneakers, and an oversized button down.
What brings you back to your own personal style when you’re on inspiration overload? Any specific practices or mantras?

Hi Caroline, longtime reader, first-time caller here. What size do you take in the Reformation Will shirt? Our measurements are basically the same and so I’m glad to see you blogging again.
I’ve resisted the lure of Instagram for fashion inspo, but even something like Pinterest can quickly trigger the Diderot effect. It’s good to take a step back and refocus when the inspiration leads to feelings of inadequacy rather than creativity.
