So many things to love about this outfit. When it comes to an aesthetic, I’ve always been on the minimalist side, and this outfit just nails it. It’s simple, but the details are on point — and to me, that’s what makes a successful minimalist outfit.
Here are the details I love:
- First up, the sweater tank — it has the most perfect cut at the shoulders and armholes. Plus the open knit adds texture (and keeps things cool for hot days).
- Second, the skirt — it’s quite basic at first glance, but look a little deeper and oh it’s GOOD. The fabric is substantial and gives me this feeling of security, despite the shortness of the skirt. Plus the little side slit gives visual interest, and always stays in place.
- Third, the shoes — they ground the outfit and add a chunky element.
- Finally, the accessories — classic Ray Ban sunnies, taupe nails, silver jewelry, a simple crossbody bag, and a beige vegan leather shirt jacket to toss on top if needed.
Okay, let’s talk about this mini skirt! I’ve been on the lookout for a good black mini with a side slit detail. I tried the Ref and Aritzia versions of this skirt, but they read too “night out” for me — I wanted a daytime / everyday skirt. Enter THIS ONE from Anthro. The fabric is substantial and structured (like a ponte knit), the cut is more a-line than bodycon, and the length is a little longer than other similar skirts — these details make all the difference in wearability. To me, it’s the perfect daytime mini.
