I don’t hate spring and it’s back-and-forth weather. We get the best of both worlds for a little while — it’s shorts weather one day, sweater weather the next.
When it’s a chilly March day, I dress cozy, but still lean into spring by lightening up my color palette. Creams, whites, taupes — layer on the milky neutrals.
Okay let’s talk hats:
First of all, you’ve seen this baseball cap SO MANY TIMES on the blog. It wins “Most Worn Hat” in my closet.
I’m also thinking of getting a new hat for summer. Something that’ll offer more sun protection, maybe something straw with a wide brim.
But I feel kind of…not like myself…when I wear anything other than a baseball cap. I’ll definitely have to find the right one or else I might just stick to my trusty baseball caps.
So I wanted to ask you if you have any go-to hats or hat brands? Let me know in the comments.

I hope you’re having a good day. Thanks for being here today!
I’m not on Instagram anymore, so feel free to subscribe to my blog at the bottom of the page, and find me on Pinterest and LTK for more outfits.
I had ordered the Madewell cap but it didn’t fit my head quite right so I gave it to a friend. Then I found a natural cotton canvas one at Walmart that worked much better so I bought two! That cap probably gets the most wear. I also have a couple of felt fedoras and a straw hat from GiGi Pip, but my most favorite straw hats came from Janessa Leoné. I had saved to purchase my first one and I loved it so much that my husband surprised me with a second one for our anniversary last year. I always get compliments when I wear them, from young girls to older men!
Have you considered a black straw hat for summer? Or maybe a bleached one, instead of natural straw. Those may pair well with your style. :)
Hi Kim! So glad you found the right baseball cap! Sounds like a great find! Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve always admired Janessa Leone, but have never gotten one of her hats. Glad to hear you love yours! I think you’re right about going for a black or bleached straw hat, instead of natural straw. I’ve tried natural straw in the past, and haven’t loved it. I think going black or bleached might give the hat a little bit more edge, which would make it more in line with my style. :)
While I haven’t personally tried one I also think Will + Bear has really cute hats.
Having recently started getting your emails, I’m even more impressed than at first with the magic you create out of perfectly normcore, neutral, basic and timeless items, much of which I already own, in one version or another. Low-key perfection! One question: your ball cap… you are small and on you it’s adorable, but I’m a long, tall 5′ 11″ and I feel goofy in a ball cap. So what should I wear instead? TIA,
Sabina
I’m with you. I live in Pittsburgh, so it’s still very cold here but I’m anxious for spring clothes. I find that lightening up my outfits with whites and beiges feels more seasonal than my typical winter blacks.
Have you tried a straw baseball cap? I haven’t, but always thought it would be a good blend of the classic straw hat and a more wearable shape. Love your outfit! ♥️
I feel the same way about hats. Caps are the only ones I feel comfortable in. You have to be pretty confident to take up that much space with a wide-brim hat. Maybe I should try it more as an exercise.
Right there with ya, Alyssa! :)
I have melasma and double down on sun protection in the warm months, so a wide-brimmed hat is a must for me! I’ve tried many but the Sunday afternoons islander is my favorite. I’ve had it for several years and it has held up really well for everything from gardening to farmers market runs and long summer hikes :)
Ooh I haven’t heard of Sunday Afternoons before! Thanks for sharing! :)
I can see you in a canvas bucket hat! I love my Lack of Color wave bucket hat. I debated a long time over purchasing it because of the price but the cheaper alternatives just wasn’t working for me. As soon as I tried on the Lack of Color one, it was one of those yaaaassss moments :)

Hi Joanie! I’ve been considering a canvas bucket hat! Thanks so much for sharing that one! I love the color and size of the brim.
