Well now that I’ve tried wide leg jeans, it seems you can’t get me out of them. I LOVE THEM.
I keep thinking I’ll style them with dainty shoes — you know, something with delicate straps to balance out the wide leg. But I keep reaching for my chunky dad sandals and white sneakers.
In my head, I know it’s a good idea to alternate proportions in an outfit — as in, sandwich something fitted/delicate in between two oversized/chunky pieces, or vice versa.
Like wearing an oversized top + fitted bottoms + chunky shoes. Or wearing a fitted top + voluminous bottoms + delicate shoes. You get the idea — alternating proportions is one of those fashion “rules”.
But the heart wants what the heart wants — and right now that’s sneakers WITH wide leg jeans. Personal preference > fashion rules.
I finished off the look with a beautiful knit tank on top — you just saw it in Tuesday’s post! It’s that good, especially the stunning shape at the neckline and low armholes. The cut is divine and it seems to elevate everything I pair it with. I can already tell it’s going to be a staple in my summer wardrobe.

Thanks for reading, I’m glad you’re here.
would you say the jeans run TTS? :) Thanks!
Hi Holly! I’d say these run TTS. For reference, I’m usually a 24-25 in Madewell jeans and a 26-27 in Abercrombie jeans. I hope that helps! :)
Caroline, it’s just TRUE! I recently deleted my fashion inspiration board because, while I took some good ideas from it and still like cruising Pinterest from time to time, I really just am happiest when I am wearing what I *feel* like wearing, even when it (often) does not align with what I think *looks* cute. We really are encouraged so little to know ourselves in this society. Thank you for bringing the message! You look great–and, more importantly, you look happy. <3
Loving this tank top (in both posts this week). Would you mind sharing what type of bra/tank scenario you’re using underneath? With the loose weave and low cut arms, I’m wondering what’s working. Thanks!
Hi Allison! I’m wearing a strapless bra that matches my skin tone. It’s several years old and not available anymore, but I think just about any strapless bra would do. I’m also wearing it a little lower on my ribcage so that it doesn’t show under the arms. However, I also think it would be cute with a white camisole bra, letting the silhouette and straps show. I plan to wear it both ways. :)
You are right, I agree , wide leg pants look best with chunky shoes, or a wide shape shoe. Shoes are really an extension of your bottom. So a skinny pant will look better with narrow shoes etc.
