You want to know something great?
I’m wearing a sweatshirt + jeans.
A sweatshirt + jeans!
But they’re sandwiched between some cool shoes and a colorful scarf, so it looks like a real outfit. #outfithack
I must be really into hacks these days. My husband and I both took on IKEA hacks this month. He made an awesome desk + I made this chair.
Okay, fine. WE made that chair. There’s no way I could have made that thing by myself. :)
We had fun.
Do you have a favorite outfit hack? Or a favorite IKEA hack? :)
Glasses: Warby Parker
Scarf: Madewell
Bag: Nordstrom
Top: Aritzia
Bottoms: Gap (similar)
Shoes: Aldo
Rocking the outfit!
My favorite outfit hack is track pants. They can be dressed up, but they still feel like pajamas!
I love it! It’s simple, but has that cool-without-trying vibe. My “hack” when I’m feeling too tired/uninspired to put together a cool outfit is to wear a really simple top and bottom in dark colors + one really colorful accessory (usually a statement necklace or scarf). It’s easy but looks like I thought about it, haha.
Do you mind sharing what size you wear for most Aritzia shirts? I’m having a hard time deciding on the right size, especially since a lot of their shirts seem to be oversized/boxy fit. Love this outfit and thanks in advance for your feedback!
Hi Kristen! I’m usually an XS at Aritzia. :) xo Caroline
Love this!!!
My favorite outfit hack: put on a hat, and shazam! insta-good hair day.
Love it! I’m obsessed with hacks too, that chair is just too good
I just love this outfit so much! It is so me!
Hi! I may have missed it, but did you end up being able to shorten the heels on these shoes? I bought them after seeing them in your posts. They are AMAZING. Haven’t worn them yet because they are a holiday “gift.” I think they are comfortable as-is, but may wear them more if they had a bit lower heel. Would love to know if you were successful in having them shortened/lowered. Thanks!!
Hi Anne! Here’s the post that explains what happened:

Only for outdoor, but throw on a rugged leather jacket to make nearly every outfit look effortlessly cool instead of just effortless :-)
Hi Caroline,
I found your blog mid-summer and have loved visiting almost daily since then! Am currently working hard at creating my own capsule wardrobe. Thanks for your inspiration and gentle approach. You mentioned in your last post that you have begun planning your winter capsule…I wondered if you would share a bit more about what planning entails for you, do you break it up into steps and plan the same way each season? Is it systematic or a new approach each time?
Thanks!
Also, my favorite DIY chair… my dad’s company http://www.homereserve.com Really affordable Ready-to-Assemble furniture!
What table/desk did your husband use in his ikeahack?
Your posts are always right on point with my style. So happy to be a new follower!
You always make casual look stylish! My “hack” is a jersey blazer – makes me look instantly well dressed even if I’m just wearing jeans, a tee and boots :)
Those shoes, seriously rock!
