fall outfits, Outfits: Fall

4.37 too cold to get dressed in the morning? here’s the solution.

12/01/14

fall-outfits-57 fall-outfits-58 fall-outfits-59 fall-outfits-300

Happy December!

When I was a kid, I had all kinds of strategies to deal with getting dressed on cold mornings:

I’d put my clothes in the dryer.

Or I’d change under the covers.

Or I’d just put clothes over my PJs and call it a win.

This outfit is a throwback to the days when I’d just put clothes over my PJs. When it’s cold, I sleep in fleece lined leggings from Target. Then, when I wake up, I just slip these track pants on over said leggings.

It’s like the hack of the universe. I’m still in my PJs! And no one can tell!

Lazy? Weak? Tacky? It could be labeled many different ways.

I like to call it:

Brilliant.

Hi Caroline, I LOVE your blog! I am about to clear out my closet for a fresh start and am really looking forward to your winter capsule – hoping I can apply your great style and tips to my winter capsule wardrobe in Sweden :-)
PS was wondering if you ever wear belts?

Brilliant doesn’t even cut it haha!! Thanks so much for all the inspiration on here Caroline. I literally culled over half my wardrobe on the weekend and am ready to start my capsule for the summer (here in Oz) – woo hoo! I’m also loving these trackpants and have the perfect pattern to sew myself a pair next year for my winter capsule ;)

I’m also wondering how you keep your feet warm! I love the idea of wearing cozy track pants but I cannot think of a stylish way to wear them and stay warm. I’m wearing 2 pairs of socks under my boots every day ;)

So, I’m gonna answer for her, and I hope I’m not being presumptuous. Here in Texas, we don’t have to keep our feet warm. It never really gets cold enough for that. :/

So I was scrolling through Pintrest last night and one of your old posts from last year popped up. And I just wanted to say it is SO neat to see your style progression and also how much more confident you seem with showing us your style. It’s inspiring to watch.

Hi Leah! Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Sometimes when you’re in the middle of something, you can get lost in the day-to-day and forget to appreciate the moment, you know? Your words brought me back to that place of stillness + gratitude. Thank you. :) xo Caroline

Just go to Ross or TJ Maxx- I own like, 5 pairs of fleece lined leggings, and they’re less than $10 in either of those stores. They are HEAVENLY, and also super cute under dresses. :)

The same trick works with maxi skirts! I used to just pull it over my pajama leggings and then put boots on – noone can tell! Perfekt for lazy weekends or when ones not feeling great but needs to go to the store.

I finally gave it and bought that shirt! I have been looking for a soft white button up for some time. I hope this will be a winner! Also, do you have any recommendations for plain solid T’s? I am looking for good quality ones that drapes well, and have been unsuccessful :(

    Sincerely, Tania

If you don’t mind my asking, how tall are you?? I’m considering buying the aritzia joggers, and I love how they fit you, but I have short legs (the worstttt).

Thanks for the fantastic blog and everyday inspiration!!!
