Well, Thanksgiving was a blast! Our week was full of turkey leftovers, rounds of charades, and the traditional Big Foot walk-off. That’s exactly what it sounds like — a contest in the living room where we take turns trying to do the best Big Foot walk. Ain’t family grand?
When I packed for Thanksgiving, I had one thing on my mind: comfort.
Thanksgiving calls for lounge clothes that feel put together — after all, we’re usually just hanging out around the house.
So I packed these jeans. My oldest, most worn-in pair of Madewell jeans.
I know jeans don’t exactly scream lounge clothes, but there’s something about old jeans. They’re so worn and weathered that they’ve become almost like lounge clothes to me.
In fact, something interesting happened the day after Thanksgiving.
I’d been looking forward to that day for months, because Gilmore Girls. (!!!!!)
I hopped on the couch, grabbed the remote, and then my husband looked over at me.
“Don’t you want to change into leggings or something?” He asked.
I was wearing these jeans.
“Nope!” I said. And I binge watched Gilmore Girls the whole night in ’em, curled up on the couch, comfy as could be.
There’s just something about well-worn clothes.
Sure, new clothes can be fun and post-Thanksgiving sales can be helpful when building a wardrobe.
But these jeans remind me that old stuff has something new clothes don’t have– the patina and comfort of age.
So tell me, what are your favorite worn-in pieces? What do you love about them? And have you finished the new Gilmore Girls yet?! (No spoilers in the comments, please!)
See you tomorrow!

I *almost* stayed up after everyone went to bed last night to finish the last two episodes… but then I remembered my alarm clock was set for 5 am for work this morning and thought better of it! Haha! My favorite worn in pieces are also well-loved jeans, but also ankle booties. :)
Laura, hope you get some time to watch + enjoy! :)
Lovely outfit! I do like that beanie on you and love those boots. Your thanksgiving sounds fun.
Oh there is something wonderful about old favourites! Jeans just get better with age, I have an old pair of gap, real straight jeans that are now the perfect washed out black.
I have just taken out some of my winter hats, scarves and my down-filled coat ready for the freezing weather forecast this week. I always enjoy getting my next season’s things out and rediscovering old favourites.
Yes Tanya! I agree! It is fun to see those old faves again ;)
Oh, I own also such jeans which are as comfy as leggings :) Cool look!

Sheila, hope you enjoy it! :)
Happy Belated Thanksgiving :) I can see how jeans are like comfy, couch pants. Right now, I’m really into a pair of boyfriend jeans that I just wear day in and day out because I don’t feel like I have to be careful with them. They’re not precious; they’re just comfy and easy. Now, if I could just find a good series to watch :)
Marie, comfy + easy is a perfect recipe for jeans! :)
Wow, those jeans still look great! There is something amazing about old clothes. :)
Victoria, I agree! Something to be said for items that wear out (or wear in) perfectly :)
Love my old jeans. They are so comfy and look more put together than leggings. My husband prefers them too :-)
So happy to be listening to your Spotify Anthro Christmas Playlist! It is my favorite. You have great playlists – make my work day go by quicker.
Yes Gloria! I agree — as much as I love a good pair of TV-watching leggings, jeans look much more put together. :) Glad you’re enjoying the playlist. More to come!
I had girlfriends come over on Friday and watch Gilmore Girls and ate Thanksgiving leftovers. It was perfect. I have since re-watched all of it and feel so much more closure after doing so. We totally lounged in our PJs and blankies, but I am glad you were comfy too!
That sounds so fun Amelia! Love it :)
I have a pair of old Clarks low ankle booties that I desperately need to either replace or have resoled. They were bought at the end of 2009 in preparation for a semester in London and Europe, and they have been my indispensable winter shoes ever since. I haven’t been diligent about polishing the leather though, and it’s starting to show. However, I dread replacing them, because they are so perfectly comfortable!
Oh Anna! That would be so sad to part with such perfect shoes! I hope you can get them resoled! :)
I generally find jeans are my perfect lounge compromise. Casual and comfy enough for slow days, but put-together enough that if I decide to leave home on a whim, I don’t have to change.
So true that jeans just get better with age. Had my favourite pair for years (although that could be because I hate jean shopping)
Spent Friday watching Gilmore Girls and avoiding the black friday sales and emails – perfect start to the weekend
Yes Jen! Sounds pretty perfect to me too :)
I have a pair like this – my favorite pair of black jeans. I even patched them when I wore a hole through them! irreplaceable!
Brooke, glad you were able to fix them! :)
I have a chambray shirt that I’ve had for around 8 years, and sadly I’ve worn it to shreds! But I still sometimes put it on around the house because it’s the softest, comfiest, best shirt I’ve ever owned! :D Thanks for sharing– it sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving!

I did, Lauren! Hope you did too :)
Great post…I could feel the coziness! ???
I love my old jeans, very comfy
Finished The Gilmor girles yesterday and want more :)
I had the girls around on Saturday to spend the day watching the Gilmore Girls and it was good and awful in equal parts. Pjs were exceptable :)
Great post!
Honestly, I only own three pairs of jeans, which are all uber-comfy. My comfiest, however, and which I only wear in the house, are a size too big. They’re my equivalent of ‘leggings’ or whatever else. When I get home I change into them, some good old oversized warm socks, and a tshirt I reserve for in-house too (I have house clothes, it is a good idea sometimes!). So I totally get the idea of having comfy jeans! And enjoying them and still looking good in them!
Thanks for your blog and all the goodwill (even apres Thanksgiving!)

Great outfit! Is this white top sufficiently opaque in person? I’ve had such a tough time finding a white top that isn’t sheer.
Hey Casey, this is an older sweater and it’s on the light side, so I wouldn’t say it’s completely opaque. I usually wear a nude bra underneath and haven’t had any problems. :)
I really want this beanie. What color is it?
Hey Cindy, its copper. :)
