While I am a jeans and t-shirt girl through and through, I felt totally inspired when I found this skirt. I needed something unexpected and interesting in my capsule wardrobe, and this was the piece I’d been missing.
The lesson here? If you feel like your wardrobe is boring, bring in a piece that you’re a little unsure about. See, I’ve never been into pencil skirts because they are too corporate for my lifestyle. But…a pencil skirt in this geometric pattern? Well, I thought it might just be crazy enough to work. And it was.
When it came to styling, I wanted to further remove it from it’s corporate roots. I added chambray to make it casual + ankle boots to make it a tiny bit edgy. What do you think?

found your blog through Jess’s (jessicajordana.com) blog; it’s SO cool! :) I got married last weekend and this week I’ve been struggling with the concept of sharing a closet with a boy! I definitely need to practice some de-cluttering!
also, I’ve been looking for an interesting way to wear my jean-type shirt and I really liked this <3 love, love the skirt! I usually go for maxis with this kind of bold patterns, but this skirt has also given me a few ideas on how to get some milage of an abandoned pencil skirt in my closet :D
Hi Ericka! UM GIRL CONGRATS ON GETTING MARRIED LAST WEEKEND!!!!!!!!! Marriage is awesome in every way. :) xoxo Caroline
It really is! :D
Love your website (followed you on instagram for a awhile and saw your new site)! Not sure if you’d be open to doing this – but I’d love to know your makeup routine for a minimalist way! I don’t wear much makeup at all (only mascara?) – so this would be something great to see/know! Just an idea for the future! Keep this up! I love it! (and i love your glasses, you look great in them!)
I love this idea–seriously l-o-v-e it! I’ll definitely plan to post about my makeup routine soon (and maybe hair, skin care, etc. too!). :) xoxo Caroline
I have the advantage of reading your blog backward from present day and see this and the red peplum not repeating and just not you ;)
Hi Mare! You may be right. ;) xoxo Caroline
