Capsule #2 // Outfit 22
Today, I’m wearing my signature colors again: cream, cognac, and blue jean blue. This is a perfect patio dinner outfit.
With an open knit sweater like this, you have to be careful about the jewelry you wear with it. Why? Oh, because if you wear your regular bangle, the clasp will snag on it, and you’ll mess up your favorite sweater. Sigh. Lesson learned the hard way.
Thankfully, mom was able to fix it. Moms are the greatest.
For this look though, I needed some statement jewelry to jazz it up a bit. Since necklaces and my regular bangles were out, due to hazardous sweater conditions, I went for these killer Kendra Scott Skylar earrings and a cuff bracelet with no clasp. Yay!
And, side note, I love how the cuff pattern mimics the open knit pattern of the sweater. It makes me look far more put together than I actually am. Yay, again!
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Cuff Bracelet: Francesca’s (similar)
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Steve Madden
“hazardous sweater conditions” that’s hilarious! I’ve ruined a few tops with dangerous necklaces :( Would you mind sharing sometime what you wear to shoot weddings in? I have yet to find a dress that is cute and long enough to be modest when I’m moving around but short enough to move comfortably and not get tangled in.
Hi Karis! For weddings, I wear my black midi dress + spotted d’orsay flats. (If you go to my Spring 2014 capsule wardrobe post, you’ll find ’em.) That midi dress was a miracle, because I don’t get tangled up in it + it’s the right length to keep me from flashing people ;) + it doesn’t blow up in the wind. It was from Ann Taylor last year, so they dot have it anymore, but I’m on the lookout for one that’s similar to link to here. xoxo Caroline
Agreed… love this neutral colour combo too. Very simple, yet looks very well put together. And you’re definitely inspiring me to expand my Kendra Scott collection (from 1). I have this style in the turquoise blue, makes a great statement piece, however I am being sold on the neutrals now!
Is there a specific length that you like skinny jeans to be? I’m really short so I got mine altered but now they’re at a questionable not long enough, not necessarily crop length. I tried the roll that you did with yours and it helped, I think. Is there a specific place they should hit? I guess all pants look different on everyone! Love love your blog! Wrestling with contentment issues and you’ve helped me find a place to start!! Thank you! Keep on keepin on!
Hi Lacey! I always like skinny jeans that hit a little below the bottom of my ankle (for full length) or about 2 inches above the top of my ankle (for short or ankle length). But, one time I accidentally bought jeans at a questionable length too, and just used the roll technique to get the right length. And thank you so much for your sweet words! xoxo Caroline
Mom’s are the greatest ! Speaking of mom’s, would you consider capsuling your mom’s closet? I love the concept, and the style is perfect for my daughter so I have challenged her to a fall capsul contest . Do you know of anyone who blogs for more mature women ( 40’s-50’s) using a similar concept? Great blog, and the first I’ve ever subscribed to- I predict you will be a huge success!
I really like your peep toe cognac booties but when looking for SM ones, they only seem to have natural leather ones (too pale)- could Matisse New Balance be a good alternative http://www.pinterest.com/pin/524458319078853723/, or are they too dark? What’s your shoe size btw, are SM true to size or?
First of all, really loving your blog. Second, I do need to ask you how do you wear this kind of blouse, and other light ones without looking totally transparent on the bras area. I have this problem because I love light fabric blouses but I hate how they show everything sometimes. And not every blouse look good with a tank top underneath.
