Capsule #2 // Outfit 28
I’m feeling a little 70’s in this outfit, and that’s all right by me.
We’re almost half way through the spring season! How are you feeling about your capsule wardrobe? Are you feeling bored with it or is it surprising you? This season is a breath of fresh air for me. I can’t get over how happy I am with my Spring capsule wardrobe.
This was SO not the story with my first capsule wardrobe, because at that point I didn’t understand my own style. Like at all. But I feel like living with a not so great wardrobe for three months actually taught me all I needed to know about my style. :) It was kind of a miracle. First capsule = the worst style ever. Second capsule = style that makes me proud and happy!
That’s why I get so excited about you all trying it–you may not put together the “right” capsule wardrobe your first time, but that’s how it’s supposed to go. Dive in anyway. It’s really fun to see what happens from there.

Love the blog! I did a 30 in 30 challenge a few years back and it changed everything. Unfancy has been so fun to follow! Question, how do you define your seasons? Austin weather is crazy and summer seems to go forever. Do you break seasons up by calendar quarters, or by weather? What month will you start your next capsule?
Hi Daphne! I use calendar quarters to define my seasons: Winter (Jan-March), Spring (April-June), Summer (July-September), Fall (October-December). It actually works great with the weather, although, yes April-September is basically one big summer wardrobe. :) xoxo Caroline
Would love to know what was in your first capsule and why it DIDN’T work. Love your blog!
Hey Sarah! I really wish I’d documented my first capsule wardrobe, but unfortunately, I didn’t. In fact, I didn’t even really plan or shop for it. It was totally an impulse done out of frustration. I just cleaned out my closet and left 37 items hanging in there–not an approach I’d recommend. :) Since I didn’t really understand my style at the time, nothing worked together, and it’s kind of a not so happy memory I locked away. ;) But it taught me a lot! I’ll share more about it in a coming post. xoxo Caroline
Love this light sweater! Do you have to wear a tank under it or is it small enough holes to wear without one?
Hi Hannah! It should probably be worn with a tank underneath in real life, but I was feeling lazy on shoot day so I didn’t put one on. ;) xoxo Caroline
Hi Caroline!
Thank you for the inspiration you have gave to me!! I’m mother of 5 children and I’m trying to work out my first capsule. It is so hard, but i think it will be worth it. Maybe my second capsule will be better and i will find my style!
Greetings from Finland.
Thank you for your sweet words, Tiina! xoxo Caroline
Oh my goodness gracious! I am so so glad that I found your site (and your instagram)! Your style is so much like mine, and your commitment to a minimalist wardrobe is inspiring! So often I read style blogs and I just can’t relate to your style. That is not so with your site. I also just bought a pair of those AE clogs that you have in your Spring collection-so cute and on sale!
