I’ve had so much fun styling this dress all week!
So far we’ve looked at styling it for chilly weather, styling it for warm weather, and we’ve even looked at changing the shape a little by tying a long sleeve tee around the waist.
Ready for our third and final look?
This time, I focused on simple styling and a darker palette. Instead of cognac or warm tan, I toned it down with deep brown accessories. To be honest, this is probably my least fav look of the week, but it’s still a good one.
A few of you have been curious why I haven’t paired any jewelry with this dress yet. It’s all about personal preference, but to me the dress is so busy on it’s own that I didn’t want to add jewelry to the mix. Although if I did, I’d probably go minimal and cool by adding a plain gold cuff or a simple black choker. What kind of jewelry would you pair with a printed dress like this?
BONUS LOOK
Yep! Another bonus look! I wanted to change up the shape again, so I added a jean jacket. The slightly oversized fit of the jacket gives the dress more of a drop-waist look.
And there you have it!
What do you think? Which of the three looks this week ended up being your favorite? And I’m curious — what kind of jewelry would you pair with a busy print like this?
Next week is going to be fun. Remember how I’ve been looking for a pink tee for my capsule? Well, I finally found the right one, and you’ll get to see it next week! And exactly one week from today, Lee of Style Bee and I will be kicking off our Spring 10×10 remix. Mark your calendars, read up on our past remixes, and start picking out your 10 pieces — I can’t wait!
Happy weekend!

Love the dress and jean jacket!
As for jewelry, the gold cuff is a beautiful idea. You also could do a Tibetan amber cuff which is a yellow/tobacco color. My first choice would be a long black pendant necklace — a beautiful black pendant stone or carved jade piece on a long leather cord.
It’s great that you embrace your lovely fair skin and don’t feel you need to tan when showing bare legs!
Seconded! Gold cuff! Gold cuff!
Great suggestion! :)
I’m not good with answering the jewelry question ha! My jewelry is always super simple. That purse is great tho!! Super classy.

I love this with the jacket! I think that’s my favorite of the week. Although this dress is so beautiful it’s hard to go wrong ;)
I really like this with the Jean jacket, the blue is a nice contrast to the browns. I think it looks a lot like an evening outfit with the darker tones. I agree that plainer jewellery would look great as a contrast to the ornate print.
This dress is amazing! And, I’m with you–no or very little jewelry looks best with such a stunning article of clothing. If anything, I would choose some statement, dangle earrings–large gold leaves, perhaps? Or, another kind of understated boho pair.
I liked the second look for this time of year and the other two for fall.
You could wear just some gold hoops. I can’t go without earrings :)
I honestly wouldn’t pair any jewelry with this dress either, because I agree it’s too busy of a print! Let the dress shine on its own :)
Also love it paired with the denim jacket!

This look is perfect to me! I’m not a big cognac girl. I prefer darker brown. Love the clogs. Love the jean jacket with sleeves rollled a tad. As far as jewelry, hoops or chandelier/boho earrings. I wear all silver, and i think it would mix well, even with the gold in the dress. A choker would be cool too! Q. Have you thought about a straw hat?? Too, black booties & purse? Just asking, cause I have mostly black shoes.
The chilly weather look was my favorite of these three. Something about dresses and boots… the contrast is fun. Almost as much fun as dresses and sneakers.
I just got the exact same bag – just love it. I love that it has no logos, patterns, bling etc.
My favorite styling for this dress was with cognac accessories which added a lot of zip!
And a real “Boho” look is absolutely not subtle: so I’d suggest long dangle earrings with bright yellow, navy and cognac beads – go all the way!
Now I’m just loving the jean jacket look. That’s my favorite! It’s adorable!!
I love this look with the jean jacket! So so cute!

Love this look
I love, love, love your blog – it has really changed my life in so many ways! I have a very silly question for you. I am very pale and feel uncomfortable about wearing shorts, skirts, and short dresses because my legs are so darn white. Any suggestions? I don’t want to live my life under cover.
If you like your legs but they are too pale how about a tinted lotion that gradually builds up color? Or nude tights? I don’t think pale is unsightly, by the way. There is beauty in what is natural, no matter your skin tone. I’m fairly olive but my legs never tan and never “match” my arms in color. I have decided not to care and it’s been freeing. :)
Thanks Laura!!
Sally Hansen Air Brush Legs is great, it’s like a very light mousse make up. I’m really pale but it just makes me look healthy rather than “tanned”.
That is great – I’ll give it a go!
for those of us that don’t have your blemish-free legs (perhaps simply because we’re 50 and have had babies even though we’re in great shape) one could pair the boho dress with skinny jeans and clogs, or black leggings and boots, or some black capri tights and sandals. or, just above the knee cut-off jean shorts and clogs.
Not over 50 but I like the way you think! Thanks for the ideas. It’s a beautiful dress but not something I’d feel comfortable in without bottoms. Too short for my taste, even in my 20’s.
Agree. I’m late 20s but would not wear this without tights. Way too short.
Caroline I loved the look with the black swing coat best! Something about the long fitted sleeves with the 3/4 wide sleeves made my heart sing.

or even longer colored bermuda shorts for a ‘tailored boho’ look!! [navy, khaki, black, etc. to go with the pattern – depending on the color you choose it would bring out different overall colors and that would give you very different looks]
Over 40 and very pale (blue) legs do yes would go the same route.
I’ve loved this week of posts! I have an intricate dress from Anthropologie and I LOVE pairing it with my simple gold hoops. They are medium size so that they stand out, but aren’t overwhelming. If I wear my hair down with the dress, you only get small glimpses of the earrings. When I am trying to be a bit more dressy, I wear my hair up and the thin gold hoops are a good finishing touch.
Sounds beautiful, Joy! Great suggestion :)
Your warm weather look was my personal favorite. The rolled sleeves and flat sandals give the dress a more casual look. Plus that little bag was so darn cute! When you have the sleeves rolled up, it would be cute to layer different bracelets to up the boho factor. I’ve got on a simple gold bangle along with a leather braided cuff, and I love the eclectic vibe it adds to a plain jeans and tee casual Friday. Then again, I’ve been really into accessories lately since the styling possibilities are endless! :)
So cute! Thank you for showing how to restyle items to increase their usability. As far as jewelry, I like a little something around my face. I would probably wear a simple drop earring in a warm metal, just for a little added sparkle and movement around my face.
Love the jean jacket look, and definitely agree that this is the least favorite of the three. The jacket really helps to balance out the print!
Eeee! I can’t wait for the 10×10! I’ll be on vacation from the 9th to the 16th, and I was initially so bummed that I wouldn’t be able to participate, as I had promised myself that after several seasons of watching, I would actually join in for the spring challenge. BUT. I promised myself, so I’m doing my due diligence, wearing my items now and writing my posts to share later, once the challenge starts. I’ll just become a working, blogging, and packing fiend from now until after the challenge, lol.
Can’t wait to see what you have planned and share my own!

My favorite look this week is the dress with the denim jacket – the blue really helps calm the busy print and it’s a great color contrast. I agree with you on the subject of jewelry with this dress – less is more. Your hair looks really cute in a top knot, so I can see a top knot with dangling earrings.
Thanks Marion, I like that idea. :)
I actually like the dark add of the saddle bag and clogs. It’s a rainy day here and we don’t get many. I could see adding some black skinny’s with jean jacket and be just perfect for a day like today.-Laurel Bledsoe
I get the feeling you’re not the earring type, but I’d probably pair a boho print dress with big earrings and maybe an anklet…
I love the denim jacket with the dress! Really cool :) and the clogs suit you so well!

i imagine i would look great with a long cardigan.
maybe even with leggings?
ox
Good call, Mel! I’ll have to try it with my long cardigan and see if it keeps its flowy shape! :)
I love when you restyle the same items multiple ways! I think the cognac was my favorite, but this one would be great for fall!
LOVE everything about this dress!
It looks great on you in all the looks, but I personally love it paired with the warm cognac accessories :) and how interesting, I’ve never thought about pushing up sleeves on a dress! So simple yet effective. Thanks for the inspiration!
Looking forward to joining in with the Spring 10×10!

I would stick to natural neutral jewelry for something that boho and busy. Black tassel earrings, or a super long pendant on leather rope, for example. Or perhaps little moonstone stud earrings or a jasper beaded bracelet.
I am partial to that the wooden earrings my husband is making. He has been creating beautiful pieces and the designs are just getting better. I like wearing the earrings he makes, too, because they are conversation starters, and everything he makes is so beautiful that they always garner lots of compliments, (and I’ll admit that maybe my ego is a sucker for that…) The only other jewelry I wear usually is a rose gold and silver Citizen watch. Anyhow, I second what Laura says about the boho/busy patterns needing something natural. The dress is beautiful all of the ways you styled it,and I loved how you could draw out both he cognac and the dark browns.

I feel like the jean jacket completes the look and ties the whole thing together. I love brown/bag brown shoes and congac bag/cognac shoes. I feel like it really creates congruity in the outfit though I know marching shoes to bag and lipstick to nail polish is old fashioned and out of style. To me, it just makes choices easier and keeps everything tied together.
Cuffed sleeves, long-sleeve tee tied around waist: hands down my favorite look for this dress.
I love the other two looks with the cognac accessoires. Cognac just goes so perfectly with the pattern of the dress. You have created one perfect cold weather and one perfect warm weather look!
So this is what I don’t get about the mixing and matching / creating as many different outfits as possible goal. Why would one want to wear this ok looking dark brown combination, when there are those other better options?
