Capsule #2 // Outfit 15
I’m not sure what my deal is, but I’ve been wayyyy into 90’s nostalgia lately. I think it’s partially because scary 90’s trends are coming back. Overalls? Crop tops? Birkenstocks? Shirts tied around your waist? Oh yes…I remember them well. I don’t want to brag or anything, but I always wore my trusty overalls and lime green t-shirt to all the skating parties in middle school.
Anyway, I love, love, love this dress. But nautical/preppy isn’t really my thing anymore, so I wanted to give it a little edge…and, well, a little edge turned into something more like grunge. I’m going with it.
Where would I wear this? Hm…an outdoor concert or festival for sure. Boots are festival survival 101–they keep all the gross off your feet. I’d also wear it to a food truck crawl date. My husband and I made this one up–it’s where we do appetizers at one food truck, dinner at another, desert at another, and drinks at another. Sounds fun, right? Try it!

I like the grunge-ish look! I started following your blog just recently, thanks to Jess Lively. I’m diving back through the archives to wrap my head around the idea of a capsule wardrobe, and I’m excited! I’ve been struggling since I spent last year pregnant, and the past almost 10 months breastfeeding – my wardrobe is still mixed up and there are piles of clothes in my closet that I haven’t worn since my pregnant belly got too big. Needless to say, I’m happy to hear you’ll be inviting in other contributors who are going through similar dramatic life changes! I could use the inspiration. Will they be living in warmer climates, too?
To respond directly to this post though, I wanted to say we love to do this too! For our anniversary this year we did the “Calvin Trillan tour”, eating one thing at 4 different restaurants. That way we got to visit all of our favorite restaurants on our special night out (and let’s be honest, those nights out are few and far between. It was our second since having the baby and she was 8 months old then!) I recommend trying it out in restaurants and not just food trucks!
Your hair is adorable in the side braid!
