I got so inspired after yesterday’s post about this sweater, that I decided to try and style it a new way each day. So you’ll see it for the rest of the week!
Today’s outfit is all about coziness and comfort. It’s a simple recipe: soft boyfriend jeans, an oversized sweater, flip flops, and glasses. To me, the whole thing has a Sunday morning vibe that I will now chase for the rest of my life, because who doesn’t want Sunday morning vibes every day? In fact, I might change my blog name from Unfancy to Sunday Morning Vibes.
Not really. But it definitely needs to become a hashtag at least. :)
Let’s take a look at four quick style notes for this outfit:
- Wear your sleeves unrolled. Sometimes I get so used to doing things a certain way (read: rolling my sleeves) that I forget to try it a different way. It’s the simplest change, but how cozy is it with the sleeves unrolled and long?
- Keep your glasses on. If you’re wearing a super casual outfit, take it further by giving your contacts a break and wearing your glasses instead.
- Try the “loose on top, loose on bottom” proportion. Typically, I like contrasting proportions, like loose on top, fitted on bottom. But sometimes, a loose on loose proportion feels cooler. Try it with an oversized sweater and loose boyfriend jeans. Bonus points: it’s super comfortable.
- Try the messy half roll with your jeans. It’s slouchy, casual, and surprisingly easy to pull off. Here are three quick steps to the messy half roll:
- Make one deep cuff, about three or four inches tall.
- Grab the bottom of the cuff you just made — one hand on the inseam of your jeans, one on the outseam. Roll the inseam up for a second cuff, while holding the outseam down.
- Fuss with it a bit and make sure the hem of your jeans is still peeking out above your messy cuff.
And that’s that! I’ll be styling this sweater all week, so you’ll see it on Thursday and Friday, too!

Great outfit, it’s definitely got Sunday morning vibes. Makes me think of chilled brunches with friends on a cool spring morning.
Have you treated your saddlebag with any leather conditioner? I recently purchased the same bag (I love it!!) and I’m wondering what would be the best way to take care of it.
Hey Veera, I don’t really treat the bag because I prefer the “old leather” look. :)
As a horse gal-it is critical to condition leather once or twice a year (more in a dry climate). Leather gets thirsty…like a living thing…and to keep it from becoming brittle and cracking (eventually leading to its demise), ya gotta condition!!! Leather can and will get so thirsty, it will drink its own dye, leading to fading.
I smear conditioner on bare handed, lest the sponge soak up all the oil….or wrap your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and use that to apply the conditioned (not cleaner….unless you dropped your bag in the mud, you don’t need cleaner)
In the pics it looks like you rolled the outseam for a 2nd cuff and kept inseam down. In directions I think it says the opposite. Or am I confused? LOVE the look and your glasses are sensational
I LOVE your style. It’s so simple and always looks comfortable, yet stylish.

I’m wishing it was Sunday already! Loose on top, tight on bottom is probably my favorite silhouette! I love the idea of seeing this sweater styled different ways x

Good tip on cuffing jeans…with winter temps in the 70s for the next 10 days, I keep longingly peeking at my Spring wardrobe…
But I’m tying to finish Feb in my winter capsule–so I’m cuffing all my pants and rolling up sleeves to catch the fabulous warm breeze!!!! It feels cooler that way!!!
Love this outfit! I believe every single outfit should have Sunday Morning Vibes! Can’t wait to see how else you style this sweater.
I’m in love with the feeling of that outfit! It looks so casual and effortless, heck, I’d want to have it as my everyday morning vibes!

Haha yes to #sundaymorningvibes! Love the style notes, Caroline.
Hi Caroline,
Right before you went on break for the holidays, you mentioned that you would be going back to talking about your whole wardrobe for a season, including what’s in it, what you change out, and how it’s working. Is that still in the cards? It’s one of my favorite aspects of your blog :) Also, I’d love to hear about the times that you do decide to pass along an item. I remember from way back you had a pair of ankle booties that you tried to get the heel shortened on — are they still around? Why/why not? Seeing your thought process on things like that would be awesome.
Thank you for the wonderful blog! I always look forward to new posts.
I second this! <3
I love your blog as much as ever, Caroline!
I third this. :)
Hey ladies! 100% yes! In fact, I’m in the process of working on it right now! You’ll see it in March. :)
As for those ankle booties… http://bit.ly/2lrEnuw (for the record, they ended up going to a friend since they were just ultimately too tall and uncomfortable.)
Sometimes I’ll get in “ruts” where all I want to wear is a sweater every single day. Like today. Not complaining though!
P.S. LOVE your bag.

LOVE this. Thank you for sharing spring ideas with us. This has inspired me to pull out some lighter colours from my “off duty” clothes tonight. I hope you plan on sharing your spring capsule and breakdown. :)
Great idea…looking forward to seeing this sweater in many guises.
I wear glasses everyday but do have more casual pairs for #sundaymorningvibes
I love your advice regarding the attention to detail here. I’m guilty of forgetting to add the ‘finishing touches’ to so many of my outfits and should really work on those little extras which make things look a bit more unique.
Hello Caroline,
Thanks for your blog ! Your are very inspiring. My wardrobe become coherent.
I can more easily find associations with your ideas. You are a fairy.

Hi there,
Is the swatch of your BRYR Miranda clogs in cement nubuck?
Also, what is the background music to the video you posted about packing a carry-on? I’ve played it so many times because I’m addicted to it.
Thanks,
Caroline
Hey fellow Caroline! The Miranda clogs are in the bone nubuck. The background music from the video is stock music from a site called Audio Jungle. Here is the link: http://bit.ly/2merEtj :)
Hi Caroline! I’ve got all the feels from these Sunday Morning Vibes of yours! I have a question about the glasses though – do you get a prescription with these? I technically don’t need glasses but secretly like wearing them as accessories, even as a headband (I have a pixie haircut, it totally works!). I didn’t know if Warby Parker lets you buy without prescription/magnifiers because I love the frames. Thanks!
Hey Sarah, you can definitely just buy the frames! Go crazy. ;)
I’m a big fan of seeing something styled multiple ways, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the week!
Your bag is lovely, the leather looks amazing!

Hello! Was checking out your sweater and noticed it was “hand wash”. Have you ever/could you discuss care for these types of items? I’m a mom of 3 young girls and am working on building my wardrobe this year – I’m often weary of hand wash items as my time is limited! So any tips would be awesome. Thanks and love your blog : ) Claire
It’s milder here in the UK than it has been, but not warm, so I will start layering some of my shirts with a thermal polo neck underneath and maybe a cardigan over. So, more of a spring vibe but still cosy, until it warms up. Spring can be really variable here, so styling things different ways is always useful.
‘Sunday Morning Vibes’ – that sounds like a playlist title if ever I heard one. I think you should make one!
Loving these tips! Especially about the glasses!
