Capsule #3 / Outfit 3
Happy Fourth of July! This is the best I could do for a patriotic outfit with my neutral wardrobe — no red, unfortunately for the holiday, just silver, white and blue. It works.
Today hubby and I are in our hometown, celebrating the holiday with my family. Last night we played with sparklers and cooked out on the grill. Tonight, we’re listening to the community band play patriotic songs on the lawn + watching the neighborhood parade + sitting on top of our cars to watch the fireworks show. Ah, sweet summer.
Hope your day is full of fireworks + fun. Happy Independence Day!
Dress: Banana Republic (similar)

I kinda like the blue, white and silver combo better than adding red. I don’t think I even own a red piece. Lipstick…that’s it.
Love how you put these fab basics together here. Have a fabulous 4th, Caroline.

Love this one for the fourth! A classic red mani/pedi would easily take this look ‘patriotic’ without adding another item of clothing. I’m actually finishing my capsule shopping this weekend. I’m loving your capsule planner. After stilling down evaluating my items and making a shopping list I did all my shopping in THREE HOURS (!!!). And I love to shop so I really surprised myself. I felt very accomplished. Now just three items to return and one dress to select and purchase. Thanks to the inspiration- keep it up!

I agree with everyone else, I much prefer the whole understated red/white/blue look. And I love this look in general! Knowing me, I might have thrown on a worn dark red baseball cap or a vintage patriotic pin (#historynerdalert). I’m obsessed with the juxtaposition of a tomboy baseball cap and a feminine skirt/dress. I too am a new reader and am finding myself addicted to your blog. Working up the courage to set aside the time to purge!
