Capsule #3 / Outfit 38
Take one. Perfect for the daytime.
Take two. Swap the bag and shoes. Add a necklace. And boom! Ready for a night out!
Well, we’re back from our blissful week at the beach! It only makes sense that take one from today’s post feels very back-to-school-ish.
And while I’m not going back to school — haven’t for a while now, although my degree was in education — I have been thinking about some lessons I’ve been challenged by this year.
Like how to practice gratitude every time you buy something. (And in turn, spend smarter.)
Or the real reason we spend money the way we do in Western culture. (A little scary)
Or how to be content + secure in the path you’re walking. (And in turn, give grace to other people’s paths too.)
I’ve been collecting little articles I’ve found here and there — about money, gratitude, contentment, etc.. I found each article challenging + energizing, so I thought I’d share.
What do you think?
Top: Bobeau (similar)
Bottoms: Gap
Shoes: J.Crew
Bag: Hobo

LOVE the articles! Especially the one about the 40-hour work week. Thanks for sharing!
I love adding heels to a jeans + tee outfit to make it fancy and ready for a night out. Adorable outfit. Also, loving these articles.

Wow, thank you for posting those articles! I found them very interesting, and I’m now following two of the blogs. Also, that shirt just looks so comfy but nice at the same time, oh my gosh!

I just read through the articles you posted! Really great stuff! I especially liked what Garance wrote about – I felt it had a lot to do with contentment. We each are given a circle of influence, and its important to excel in your circle as best you can, even as your circle gets more and more expansive! Thanks Caroline! I’m a new reader and LOVE un-fancy!

I just can’t not like an outfit that combines cognac and cream :)
I just love your blog. I love your style and this concept. However, I am having a little trouble figuring how to apply this to my life. I am currently four months pregnant with my third child (in 4.5 yrs), so to say my weight has fluctuated a bit for the last few years would be an understatement? What is the best way (or any way) to use this minimalist philosophy for a rapidly changing body?
As a side note, what do you recommend as the best way to incorporate color into a minimalist wardrobe?
Thanks for your work and inspiration. And for sharing this!
I think adding color through accessories is your best bet!
Thank you for the article links… Thoroughly enjoyed them. Definitely would be a fan of more of these.
Hi Caroline!
I love your blog- I just discovered it last week and spent part of Saturday really narrowing down my wardrobe (not quite a capsule yet but working on it!). I had a question for you regarding laundry. With only 37 pieces, how often do you do laundry? I only do mine about once a week but I worry if I truly narrowed down my wardrobe I would need to do laundry more often. Maybe that’s just me making more excuses so thought I’d ask!
Hey! I’m pretty sure she has an article about how she handles the laundry in her archives. There aren’t many posts so you should be able to find it easily. :)
Thank you! I found the post you were talking about :)
love these articles- thanks so much for sharing!
Loved these articles… has really made me think about what makes me happy and learning (which is SO hard) to be content with my life the way it is :) Thank you!
Also, loved the outfit!
