Did you ever watch that Architectural Digest tour of Dakota Johnson’s home? I saw it about three years ago and was so inspired, not only by her warm and interesting home, but by the outfit she wore in that interview. It was simple — a navy pinstripe blazer and slouchy jeans — but so good. Ever since, I’ve had an oversized navy pinstripe blazer on my wish list. And just recently, I found the perfect one on Poshmark! So this outfit is me living my inspiration, three years in the making. It’s a good day.
Casual (or unfancy, if you will) is a defining feature of my style, so I put my own personal spin on the look by swapping Dakota’s loafers for my Birkenstocks, adding a beaded necklace that feels reminiscent of something you’d wear at camp, and finishing with my ultra casual canvas bag.
Also, I decided to trim these jeans to ankle length. Some say that that ankle length denim is done, but I disagree. Clothes are a tool — an ankle length jean is a tool, so use it when the outfit calls for it. In this case, I needed a bit of skin showing somewhere, so say hello to my ankle. I love it.

Great outfit, and that blazer looks like it was made just for you!
I have an old Calvin Klein pinstriped blazer that my partner was going to give away, and I convinced him to give it to me. 😬 I absolutely love it and I feel hip and powerful every time I wear it. Thank you for the inspiration to mix it woth more casual elements.
And the only thing better than Dakota Johnson’s style is her house!! Goodness, it is just gorgeous–warm and elegant.
Thank you for this post! Have a fantastic week!
