Your gal here is apparently as picky with shoes as a toddler is with vegetables. Flip flops only. So what am I going to do about shoes in winter? Spoiler: We don’t know yet.
This is nothing new. My junior year of high school, completely unbothered, I wore exclusively Reef flip flops for the entirety of winter — rain, snow, or shine. Why girl, whyyy?
So, we’ll see what I manage to do for cold weather footwear. My priorities are split between comfort and prettiness, and I don’t know how to reconcile the two at the moment. *shrug* I’m curious what kind of cold-weather footwear you plan on wearing?
Anyway, when I was putting together this outfit, I tried this leather bomber + tee with straight leg denim. But it felt too classic for my mood that day. So I swapped the denim for parachute pants, and was reminded yet again just how much I LOVE parachute pants. A refreshing alternative to jeans.
I’m paying closer attention to the small details in my outfits, so I finished the look with a sweet strand of pearls to contrast the tough leather jacket. I feel very proud of myself for that one.

For cold weather footwear – Chelsea boots!! You just pull them on, they can look tough or dressy, look good with dresses or pants. I live in them from late fall to early spring!!
Birkenstock or similar clogs? I also like ankle boots.
Birdies and Rothy’s tend to be my investment footwear, especially during the winter. Birdies does velvet and fluffy-lined shoes that basically have a mattress insole, and Rothy’s has been doing 3D knit merino wool for a while. They’re even releasing merino clogs. 🥰
Here in New England, the LL Bean boots are the winter uniform. There are several styles. Also Clarks Wallabies and Timberlands.
I remember an outfit you posted, maybe two years ago : a dress (right above the knee) and boots. It was pretty (I wear something similar on repeat for fall and winter) and realistic enough for cold weather. So… I’m sure you’ll find the appropriate footwear this winter too ! Chelsea boots are great, too :)
vintage Doc Martens are my jam! much like the Chelsea boot in terms of versatility, but with a little extra rebel (sorely needed in my current incarnation as an office worker).
I have the same problem, I never know what shoes to wear in the winter. Like TX, we don’t have super cold long winters here in GA. I personally get really hot and claustrophobic feeling when my feet are in boots. I do wear them occasionally but immediately change back into flip flops when I get home. Even though these are still considered sandals, I will often wear Pons Avarcas in the cooler months since they at least cover my toes. However, it never fails, someone will always ask, “Aren’t your feet cold?”
My cold weather flip flop equivalent is Birkenstock clogs with socks, I feel they go with everything and bring the same casual vibe but with warmer toes
I feel you. I live in Montana and wait until the very last minute to wear appropriate shoes. This year I’m infatuated with white tennis shoes until it snows then Blundstone boots. I can wear them all day and feel great. Can’t say that about all boots. They are simple but allow a few styling options.
