You know how sometimes you are just so not inspired with your clothes? Even when they are your favorite pieces — you’re just in a slump and you can’t figure out how to style them in a way that feels good.
I’ve been in a major styling slump. Maybe it’s because we’re in the summer doldrums, maybe it’s because I’m just tired. Who knows. But I’ve been there these past few weeks.
So this green set — I was feeling slump-y with it. (The pure opposite of getting jiggy with it, in case you were wondering.)
But then I saw a gal wearing a set similar to mine, and she’d worn the button down open with a plain tee underneath.
THE MOST BASIC STYLING MOVE.
AND YET.
I hadn’t thought of it. Because I was in Slumpsville.
The moment I put that white tee under the button down, the whole look felt alive and refreshed — like a big ol’ YES!
It’s nice to realize that the fix for Stylist’s Block doesn’t have to be complicated or groundbreaking. It can be something you’ve done a hundred times before, but just kind of temporarily forgot about. It can be simple — obnoxiously simple. ;)

Thank you for reading my blog! Hope you’re having good day.
When I take a look at all the pictures you posted recently, it doesn’t look like you’ve been in a styling slump : the outfits are great and always inspiring ! But yes, I agree with you : we sometimes have a sort of epiphany about what looks like a small detail… Hugs from France.
I just wanted to say thank you for recommending that Abercrombie tshirt! It really suits a gap in my wardrobe and now I know my ideal tshirt length going forward!
I’ve been in a slump too and just cleared out anything from my closet that wasn’t a favorite. It’s helped tremendously! I’m so happy to see you posting outfits again; I’ve been a follower from the beginning, but hadn’t checked in a while. You’re such a calming voice on the internet. I admire the way you stay in tune with yourself instead of being swayed by freebies or trends. You really do stick with your capsule-ish wardrobe. Love your style and voice so much! Keep sharing your thoughts and ideas!
Totally get what you’re saying! You always look amazing and are so inspiring! When I’m in a slump, which seems often then I reach for my trusty Nike black running shorts and a simple white tee haha it always works and the comfort level is key when in a slump. If it’s winter then black running leggings and a simple sweatshirt. Not very creative but it’s what works.
I loved this post. Your recent style as showed in the blog has not seemed slumpish to me, but of course you are the only one knowing how you feel. Many thanks for sharing also the not-so-happy part of the journey ♥
