Un-Fancy

guest bloggers

advice on life, style, and minimalism from five awesome ladies

01/16/15

Happy Friday! How was your week?

I went a little stir crazy with the streak of cloudy + cold + drizzly weather we had in Austin. But now the sun is shining through my windows and I am one very happy girl.

Remember way back in October when I opened Unfancy up to guest bloggers? Picking just two people out of hundreds proved to be a fiercely difficult undertaking. I spent hour after hour on the floor of our living room, reading the life stories of really incredible women. Each person brought something valuable to the light: Things like a desire to see people come together, a unique + inspiring lifestyle, a focus on generosity, seasoned advice, an insatiable zest for life … and some serious style. :)

There was so. much. good.

I realized that even though I couldn’t pick everyone, I absolutely wanted to introduce you to more than just two. So today, you get to meet a handful of the guest blogger finalists — the ladies whose wisdom, humanity, and energy spoke straight to my heart.

I asked them to share a few words on style, minimalism, or just life in general, and this is what they had to say:

(Click their photo, quote, or link, and it’ll take you straight to their blog, even though the “Pin It” button might still pop up. And just in case you’re looking for it, Heather currently doesn’t have a blog.)

Make sure to leave them lots of love — and then go bookmark their blogs.

Next week, you’ll get to meet the two super awesome guest bloggers who will be with us all the way through March — WOOHOO! During the next few weeks, they’ll be sharing outfits and talking openly about their capsule wardrobes and how they make it work for their lifestyles. I’M SO EXCITED.

Happy weekend, friends!

xo

Laura! I’m so glad Caroline featured you! I’m pregnant as well and have had to create my own rules as my belly has expanded! So happy to visit your blog and see how you made a capsule wardrobe work while pregnant! Cheers!

I stumbled across your blog 2 weeks ago and have fallen right in love with it! I just completed my first capsule wardrobe by selling/donating most of my other clothes. It’s very freeing to have a minimal mindset! Thank you for all your advice, and I love all the advice from these ladies too! Can’t wait to see next week’s ladies. :)

I love seeing how minimalism resonates for different individuals – I am looking forward to their guest posts! The movement towards simplifying to be able to focus on what is important is truly inspiring – beyond just the closet!

I really like your blog and style. It’s beautiful. One thing that I would like to see is minimalism that has more color. Maybe it isn’t possible.

WOAH go Liz! I love this, Caroline! Peeking into other capsule wardrobes gave me a clearer sense of direction and excitement when it come time to planning my own for spring. I tend to lean more towards minimalistic looks like your own, but seeing others definitely proves that everyone’s taste can be streamlined into a few great pieces.

I had a question unrelated to the post – but wasn’t sure where to post it! I haven’t gone digging through your archives, but have you ever posted about home style? I’d love to hear your thoughts about home decoration / minimalism in the home!

Love the blog. Love minimalism. And the reaching out to other minimalist bloggers will be really insightful. But it’s disappointing some of the other bloggers featured have similar neutral color palette capsule wardrobes like yours, Caroline. I would have liked it better if you featured other capsule wardrobes that are vastly different from yours, to show just how different/creative one can get with color, shape, textures, etc, despite a minimalist wardrobe.
