Outfits: Fall, Outfits: Winter

Two items I reach for when the temperatures drop

02/21/23

On super cold days, I reach for the two warmest items in my closet — my Abercrombie vegan leather pants and my Everlane alpaca crew sweater.

Contrary to what you’d think, these leather pants are SO COMFY. Like yoga pant comfortable. I know — it makes no sense.

These pants are also WARM — but not stuffy. Some vegan leather pants feel like you’re wearing a plastic bag — these don’t. Of course, they aren’t quite as breathable as denim, but for a vegan leather pant they are pretty great. With their soft, brushed lining, these are much warmer than jeans, and perfect for super cold days.

Still loving my Everlane Alpaca crew sweater. I’ve had it for five years, it gets a ton of wear each year, and it’s held up flawlessly. Hardly a sign of wear. Plus — super warm!

I sized up two sizes in the sweater for an oversized fit. And it is a bit itchy, so I always wear a layer underneath (usually an Everlane pima micro rib long sleeve).

As an old lady, I appreciate your entire approach to dressing. Practical, neutral, comfy, universal. A few years ago, I bought a black cashmere men’s crewneck sweater two sizes too big, and I wear it all the time. I also get a kick out of your handbags; I had a whole collection of those hobo bags back in the seventies; Coach used to make great ones. But what I really want to know: what about your gorgeous double band gold ring?

Thanks Sabina! That men’s cashmere crew sounds like a dream, and I love that you used to have a whole collection of hobo bags in the 70s! Now I want to go look up 70s Coach hobos on eBay! :) The rings are from Mejuri, and I wear a white gold one stacked with and yellow gold one — I’ve linked them below.
