Has this ever happened to you? You open your closet, rifle past that one thing you haven’t worn in forever, and then an eerie feeling comes over you. It’s almost like the garment made eye contact with you, as if to say, “Hey, wanna wear me? I miss you.”
That happened to me the other day with this skirt. I could swear it was actually giving me puppy dog eyes.
I couldn’t remember the last time I’d worn it. I mean, I’m so glad it’s in my wardrobe. It’s still useful, it still fits, and I still love it. But I just hadn’t been reaching for it.
On one hand, this is totally fine. Sometimes we wear a garment constantly, and then sometimes that same piece goes unworn for a while. I think this sort of ebb and flow is natural and normal.
But this skirt had been, shall we say, making a lot of eye contact with me lately. And finally, the other day, I was intrigued and inspired to style it in a fresh way.
I decided to take it in a super casual direction — no surprise there — and I love the way it turned out. Casual but with a dose of classic elegance. The skirt and bag elevate the simple tank and Tevas look.
What’s one piece in your wardrobe you haven’t been wearing lately? Do you feel intrigued or inspired to give it another try? Let me know how it goes!
