This outfit is a minimalist’s dream mixed with a hint of the aughts.
I wore it to an event last week and ughhhhhhh I love it so much I can’t stand it.
And to think, I *almost* talked myself out of wearing it!
While getting ready, I kept feeling drawn to this look, but then got all in my head — “You can’t just wear jeans and a tee to this event! Wear something nicer!”
But I’m so glad I followed my inspiration. The outfit was perfect. Plenty dressy. And most importantly, I felt like myself in it, which allowed me to show up feeling at ease and confident.
Also! This is that tee I posted about in last week’s Really Good Stuff post. Isn’t it so good? I particularly love that it skims the body but it isn’t tight. And the length is perfect — not too cropped, but just short enough to sit at the top edge of my mid-rise jeans.
Next week, I’ve got a spring capsule wardrobe post coming your way — I’m SO excited to share it with you!

Love this outfit! I feel like our society is shifting to a much more casual style of dress – and frankly, I am here for it.
I am curious about your heels – do you find them comfortable? Do the thin straps dig in across the toes?

Surprisingly, these heels are SUPER comfortable. I believe I got them in 2018, and they have consistently been my most-worn heel in my wardrobe. The thin straps somehow don’t dig into my feet, they don’t give me blisters, and they feel super secure and comfortable. Mine are old from Jeffrey Campbell, so I’m not sure if the Tony Bianco ones I linked to are quite as comfortable — but they look almost identical, so hopefully!
I love this post, Caroline. You look so elegant, between the intentional styling, the heels and jewelry, and your inherent elegance, which seems to come at least in part from being comfortable in yourself and knowing your style so very well.
Maybe it was quarantine; maybe it’s being in my 50s, but I am finally understanding on a deep level that the best/sexiest/most badass outfit for any occasion is the one in which we feel most like ourselves. Thank you for all the ways you remind us of that.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words, Jen! They means so much to me. <3
The basics are my favorite, look so clean and put together, i love it!
First of all, love the outfit and especially LOOOVE that t-shirt, my god. It really is perfect. I’m in a no-shopping period so it is incredibly hard at this moment to resist buying it in every color.
Secondly, just want to say that I’m so happy you’re back / posting on this platform again. Your overall vibe is so good and I really missed it when it was gone.
Lastly, your decor that I keep spying in the background is so dope and I’d love to see a post or two about it!
=)
Thank you so much Mallory! It’s SO good to be back. I’ll do a tour post soon! :)
That tee is perfection! Love this whole look.
This outfit is really a minimalist’ s dream. Lovely !
I haven’t done a real capsule in years, but feel SO drawn to it this spring — can’t wait for your post! So happy that you’re here.
