I’m always up for bike shorts. I’ve worn them so much over the past two years, you’d think I’d get tired of them, but I’m still reaching for them! Not only are they comfortable and hot-weather friendly (which is important to me as we head into the warmer months), but a good pair of high rise black bike shorts is also chic and versatile. You can style them sporty or classic — or, like this outfit, a hybrid of both.
My favorite bike shorts are from American Eagle and Beyond Yoga:
AE’s The Everything Pocket Highest Waist Bike Short has been my go to since I started wearing bike shorts — I’m wearing them in this post. They have a super high rise that covers my belly button — perfect for pairing with sports bras and crops. Plus, pockets.
Beyond Yoga’s Spacedye Team Pockets Bike Shorts are relatively new to me, but have quickly risen to the top of my list. Why? The fabric. It’s PURE SOFTNESS. Plus, pockets too.
For this look, I paired my bike shorts with a black sports bra, dad sandals, and a boxy poplin button down. The boxy cut and short sleeves make the classic poplin shirt feel modern and fresh.

I’m so glad you’re back blogging! Will you be sharing a spring capsule? :D
Thank you for this, Caroline! I haven’t been super-into bike shorts, but I have a knit shorts set from Free People that I have been trying to get creative with because–well, to be honest, because while not a fan of experiencing quarantine, turns out I *am* a fan of quarantine dressing! So trying to bring that back out into public in appropriate and fun ways. Your blog is helping so much with that! Rock on!
