spring wardrobe prep: 5 things that’ll be in my spring wardrobe

02/19/19

It’s cold and dreary here in Dallas today, but last week we had a few days of the most glorious spring weather — spring feels like it’s right around the corner!

As my vision for my spring wardrobe shapes up, I thought I’d give you a peek into the process, and share five types of items that’ll be in my spring wardrobe. Let’s jump in!

1 | Minimalist Sandals

Whether dressy or casual, a minimalist sandal is one of my wardrobe staples during the spring and summer moths. I look for woven details, interesting shapes, and light neutral tones.

From top to bottom:

Jeffrey Campbell Gallery Heels $124 (I grabbed these for an upcoming event)

Square Toe Slingback $49

Brown Woven Slide $59 (I have a pair of these in black from last year and I love them)

Kitten Heel Slide $39

2 | Puff Sleeves

I’m so drawn to this romantic style, especially because it reminds me of Anne of Green Gables and her love of puffed sleeves.

Since it’s a bit of a statement, I forgo bold color and pattern, and look for plain white tops instead. They pair well with washed jeans, gold hoops, and sunnies.

From left to right:

White Puff Sleeve Dress $115

Buttons Blouse $92 (I grabbed this one myself)

Puff Sleeve V-Neck Blouse $148 (conscious)

3 | Florals

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”

Name that movie. :)

No matter how expected they may be, I can’t help myself — after a winter of solids, I’m always excited to get my florals out again in the spring.

From top to bottom:

Puff Sleeve Mini Dress $108 (I grabbed this one myself)

Daisy Dress $198 (conscious)

Floral Top $45

4 | Washed Denim

No surprise here — washed denim has been a staple of my style for a few years now. I like it best with a high rise and straight leg.

From left to right:

Stretch jeans $68 (conscious)

Rigid jeans $89 (I have these and can’t say enough good things about them. Plus I’ve got a little tutorial to stretch rigid jeans and make them more comfortable.)

Stretch Raw Hem Jeans $75

5 | Linen Layers

I love a good blazer, but to me, a structured blazer feels too stuffy for spring. Enter linen! Rumpled, casual, lived-in linen.

I like to pair mine with a plain white tee, washed denim, and minimalist sandals.

From top to bottom:

Pumpkin Linen Jacket $128

Flax Linen Jacket $150

Long Linen Duster $49

And there you have it! Five types of items that’ll be in my spring wardrobe this year.

Now I want to hear from you! What types of things are on your spring wish list? Do we have any overlap? And don’t forget to name that movie from #3!

Til next time, see you around on Pinterest and LTK!

xo,

    The devil wears Prada ?
It’s still below freezing and snowing here, so Spring feels a bit like a pipe dream. But all these are so cute!

Stupid question- what does it mean when you write conscious after a certain item?

Hi Lauren! :) It’s an umbrella term I use to signify an item that’s been made with higher standards, like if it’s sustainably produced or from a company that goes above and beyond to treat its employees well. :)

Ah! Those 4 strap sandals are what I’ve been looking for. I hit “add to cart” a bit aggressively :) I am moving from a cold weather place back to the southwest, so I’ve been on a shopping freeze for several months (no more sweaters!) and am so excited to put my resources toward allll the linen.

Another wonderful post Caroline! The shoes were especially lovely! It makes me wonder, would you be able to do a post entirely dedicated to spring footwear? I’d love to hear your further recommendations for good sites to purchase as well as further outfit ideas for sandals, flats etc.

    Thanks!

Love this! You and I have almost the exact same style and I had been wondering when you’d post your spring picks; I knew we’d be getting the same things. Puff sleeves are really where it’s at this spring! Just finally found the ones I wanted last weekend. Mine are square neck (I’m a bigger gal and V-necks aren’t for me) but I’m excited to see how you style yours!

On my list are a somewhat conservative skirt/dress and a light trouser that preferable isn’t jeans (so I finally have something warm weather appropriate to wear to work), sandal/espadrille (I still can’t make them last longer than a season before they look completely battered…) and a light sneaker (I don’t have any). Tada!

Hi, great post as always. Maybe off topic but I can’t access your site via Chrome anymore. Not sure if it’s me or Chrome?! Anyone else having the same problem?

Here in the U.K spring is in the air but I don’t feel like anything will be added to my wardrobe. I’m hoping to rediscover (under used) accessories I already own instead to lighten up my styling and see how this inspires me.
