To me, skinny jeans are a classic. In fact, I’m coming to the conclusion that almost anything can become timeless and transcend its original (or derivative) era — the key is styling. No matter the piece, it can feel modern and fresh with clever styling.
So I’ve been having fun looking for new ways to style my beloved black skinny jeans, and this is one look I’ve landed on recently. We’ve all seen a white button down — it’s a classic — but I love looking for a classic piece that has an interesting cut or distinctive details. When I found this button down, I knew it had that “it” factor — the short sleeves and super boxy fit elevate it.
I finished the look with strappy heels, pearl hoop earrings, and a woven clutch. To me the magic of this outfit is the contrast — I love the contrast of the bold, boxy shirt with the delicate strappy heels and pearl earrings.

Love this look! If you don’t mind me asking, did you take your normal size to get this fit in the shirt? The drape and length are very complimentary.
Hi Holly! Yes — I’m wearing a Small here. The design is right on!
What size are you wearing in the top? Such a cute look!
Hi Amy! I’m wearing an XS here. :)
So helpful! I was just trying on straight leg jeans and sighing about how I still love my skinny jeans :)
The photos are very dark. I found myself adjusting my mac brightness to the highest setting but it didn’t help. Glad to see you are back!
Thank you for letting me know Jess! I’m on it.
I, too, think skinny jeans are classic! (But I’m also a millennial, so…lol.) Love how you freshened them up.
This is so perfect! Still love my skinny jeans and will probably keep using them until they fall apart… This look is, to me, absolutely spot on! So happy you are back.
i’ve been loving a button up fully buttoned this winter so i love this look! also, i hate when the fashion industry declares something dead – when will people realize it’s just a way to make you buy new clothes? :)
Love the shirt cut!
