Outfits: Spring, Outfits: Summer

summer LBD

06/02/22

Short, loose dresses are one of those things I could wear every single day in the summer. I’m beginning to collect them. When you find a proportion that just feels right, don’t question it — just go with it.

This one is just about perfect in my book:

First of all, it’s black, which is quite possibly my favorite color to wear, no matter the season.

Second, it’s made of a lightweight cotton, perfect for keeping cool on hot days.

And third, it’s machine washable! A dress from Reformation that’s machine washable?! Count me in!

With a short dress, I prefer longer sleeves to balance out the amount of skin showing, and these sleeves are beautiful. You can scrunch them up to make short sleeves if you like, but you can also wear them long if you’re indoors somewhere where the AC is too chilly.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever worn a babydoll dress before, but as a person with a smaller bust + wider hips, it turns out, it’s a fantastic cut! I’m typically drawn to sack dresses, but the way this babydoll dress nips in right under the bust — so lovely! It gives shape, yet it’s comfortable and easy to wear.

As usual, I pop a pair of bike shorts on underneath in case of any overly enthusiastic wind gusts.

I LOVE this dress! I’ve been wanting something similar for a while–long, flowy sleeves, the squared neckline, but with a smocked bodice so I don’t have to worry about a bra…however this looks beautiful! I find that super square necklines are tough to get to work with a bra–is this one that would work braless?

Hi Christy! It’s SUCH a good dress! I’ve worn it both with and without a strapless bra, and it’s worked fantastic every time. I’ve always had a hard time with square necklines too, but for some reason this one works. I think it’s because I was able to size down to fit the dress to my bust, not my hips. The smocking in the back really helps too. It’s a winner!

Love the sleeves too! Instead of bike shorts, I have been using the boy shorts by Spanx. Super lightweight but has the coverage.
