What livens up an outfit like nothing else?
Contrast.
It’s easy to think in terms of contrasting proportions (like wide leg bottoms with a fitted top) or contrasting colors (like black and white).
But! One of my favorite ways to play with contrast is a little unexpected: SEASONAL CONTRAST.
Like pairing a winter item with a summer item, for example.
My favorite, low-key way to do this? Shorts paired with a big sweater or sweatshirt.
Spring weather is made for this type of contrast play, and I’m here for it.

I love this post and this outfit! My all-time, feels-most-like-me favorite outfit to wear is my broken-in, fit-just-right cutoff denim shorts and a soft black sweater with combat boots. It feels fun and playful but with a certain gravitas (all qualities I aspire to, lol)…and it is an outfit the weather allows me to wear maaaaaaaybe twice a year. So I treasure those days.
