As I’ve been reassessing my style in light of the past two years, I’ve been observing the things I continue to return to again and again and again — things I wore at 15, 25, now 35. It’s fascinating to observe what really sticks, what I come back to, no matter the trends. For me, a good pair of simple, minimal flip flops is one of those things.
I think I love them so much because flip flops are the essence of effortless, easy summer style — and summer has always been my favorite season to dress for — so they speak to my individual personal style. A clean, minimal black flip flop feels chic, tapping into another aspect of my personal style. They make me feel like myself.
Are there any items you continue to return to, decade after decade? Clothing items that just feel like “you” no matter the trends?

It’s been so interesting to see this month of outfits, and to hear your reflections on reassessing style.
I’d really appreciate a post reflecting more directly on how you’ve changed, what has shaped your evolving style, and if your general philosophy of fashion has shifted in the last two years, if that’s not too vulnerable to share! I’m definitely seeing a transition between your last posts in late 2019 and now, and would be so interested to hear more.
Thanks for these doses of casual cuteness 🖤
Hi Madeleine! YES — the topics you mentioned are things I want to explore more in this space. I’ve been enjoying letting my style journey just happen without needing to put words to it, but I also think there is so much value in observing and reflecting on the journey through writing. <3
this is not groundbreaking in the least, but: jeans. medium wash, mid-rise or higher. it’s the thing i’ve felt most comfortable in throughout my life.
really happy to see you return to this space! i can’t tell you how many times i’ve used your style as inspiration and packing guides over the…last 6 years wow. in fact, i’d love a post of a recent packing list in your new style.
wishing you well.
Hi Jasmine! Wouldn’t you know it — I just got back from a trip and felt like the packing was a success, so I decided to do a post on it. It’s in the works now. :) Also, I’m with you on jeans! Sometimes it’s the non-groundbreaking pieces that feel the best.
hooray, thanks for the reply! glad to hear the trip and packing was a success. i’ll keep an eye out :)
