Abercrombie’s Fall Denim Event starts today — 25% off all denim!
Over the past couple of years, I’ve tried on just about every single style of denim that Abercrombie makes. Whew! So today, I thought I’d share four pairs that have stuck. Keep scrolling to see the jeans I find most comfortable and useful in my wardrobe.
1 | Mid Rise Ultra Wide Leg Jean – Regular/Mid Wash
I’m 5’5″ with a 28in waist + 38in hip. I’m wearing the Mid Rise Ultra Wide Leg Jeans in a 26 / regular length / medium wash.
SIZE | These run slightly relaxed. You could size down if you prefer a tighter fit, but I wanted a relaxed look and feel, so I took my regular size.
WASH | The wash is listed as medium, but I’d call this more of a light wash.
FABRIC | The fabric is a delightfully soft blend of lyocell and cotton. There’s technically no stretch to ’em, but since they aren’t 100% cotton, they aren’t stiff or uncomfortable. Just soft and easy to wear.
Here’s the same jean in a darker wash — perfect for fall!
2 | Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean – Regular/Mid Wash
I’m wearing the Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean in a 26 / regular length / medium wash.
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think these might be mine! Since they strike that perfect fit between a skinny and baggy jean, they feel neither too trendy, nor too dated — just incredibly timeless.
SIZE | These fit TTS. I took my regular size.
FABRIC | These are made up of 99% cotton and 1% elastane. They look like a rigid jean, but that 1% of elastane makes them ultra comfortable. They can adapt to your body as it fluctuates a little from day to day, which is so nice.
If you’re into a higher rise, here’s the high rise version.
3 | Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean – Regular/Light Wash
I’m wearing the Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean in a 26 / regular length / light wash.
This is the same style as above, but in a lighter wash. I decided to cuff them to get more of an ankle jean look and lean into their casual vibe.
FABRIC | 99% cotton and 1% elastane
SIZE | I took my regular size, but this particular pair ran a little small. I find that Abercrombie is generally consistent with their sizing, but sometimes you get a pair that fits different. So these ended up giving more of a skinny jean look. Now, on paper, I would say skinny jean aren’t my thing right now. But they’ve actually surprised me, and turned out to be super useful. Sometimes you just need a slimmer pant to balance out an oversized top.
And here’s the high rise version.
4 | Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean – Long/Light Wash
I’m wearing the Mid Rise 90’s Straight Jean in a 27 / long length / light wash.
Once again, this is the same style as above, but in a longer length. I love a good full length jean these days!
FABRIC | 99% cotton and 1% elastane
SIZE | Since the pair above ran a little small, I decided to go up one size for this pair. You can see the fit difference in the hip area. I do prefer the way these jeans fit — they feel a touch more relaxed which is the look I’m loving these days. They look just like AGolde jeans in this length!
Here’s the high rise version of these jeans.
This post is super helpful. I’ve been referring back to this many times and finally ordered both styles you like. You convinced me to try wide leg jeans. I’ve always been afraid thinking it will make me look wider, because I’m only 5’2. They look amazing on you!
