Outfits: Winter

3 outfits for when you’re so over winter (hint: no real pants required)

03/07/19

March usually brings warmer temperatures in Texas, but we had an arctic blast this week, and with that, I decided I’m officially over winter.

Or at least, I’m over dressing cute for winter. :)

I don’t want to wear anything other than yoga pants right now, so I thought I’d share three no-real-pants-required outfits I’ve been wearing on repeat. The one thing these outfits all have in common? Simple black yoga pants.

So grab your yoga pants and let’s get into some comfy-cozy outfit inspiration.

LOOK 1

Soft coat by Aritzia | similar

Sweatshirt gifted by Everlane (conscious, wearing a M)

Sunglasses by American Eagle

Turtleneck by Aritzia

Leggings (old) | similar (conscious)

Scrunchie (old) | similar

Shoes by Veja (conscious) | similar

Let’s start with the outfit that looks the most put together and work out way down to more chilled-out looks.

The foundation of this outfit is a sweatshirt and yoga pants, but I did two strategic things to make it look more like a capital-O Outfit:

  1. A tone-on-tone color palette: I kept things tone on tone here — all beige everything — but I added just enough contrast through pops of white with my shoes, turtleneck, and scrunchie.
  2. Playful accessories: The oversized  sunglasses and scrunchie just add a little touch of styling to this comfy look.

I adore this Everlane sweatshirt, and have been wearing it all winter long. It’s clocked in close to 100 wears since I got it last fall. I love it when a piece gets that much use!

However, it’s a little too close to my skin tone, so I wear it with a white turtleneck underneath for a pop of contrast. I’ve repeated this exact combination so many times this winter — both at home and out and about.

Here’s the outfit formula:

  • Start with black yoga pants and a white turtleneck tee.
  • Then add a beige sweatshirt and beige soft sweater coat on top.
  • Next, add playful accessories — beige sunglasses and a white scrunchie.
  • Then finish with white sneakers. (I’ve got my ankles exposed here, but you could easily wear high top sneakers and socks to make it more appropriate for colder weather.)

LOOK 2

Teddy Coat by Aritzia | similar

Base Layer by Nordstrom Rack

Beanie by Madewell

Scarf by Aritzia

Leggings (old) | similar (conscious)

Boots by Sorel

The foundation of this outfit is a base layer tee with yoga pants, but adding that teddy coat on top brings things up another level! I love it when one single piece can elevate an outfit.

I was hesitant about teddy coats for a long time — I thought it would be too much of a statement to be practical. But I’m happy to say this thing is super versatile. It can go dressy or sporty in a snap.

Here’s the outfit formula:

  • Start with yoga pants and a simple base layer tee, all in a similar black/charcoal shade.
  • Then add a teddy coat on top for a little drama.
  • Next, add cozy accessories — a white/creamy toned beanie and scarf.
  • Then finish with extra warm weather boots.

LOOK 3

Robe by Nordstrom (wearing a M in Oatmeal Heather)

Base Layer by Nordstrom Rack

Beanie by Madewell

Leggings (old) | similar (conscious)

Socks (old) | similar

Slippers by J.Crew

Well, at this point, it’s time to just chill. I’m usually wearing some variation of this just about every night.

I can’t say enough good things about this robe. It’s pretty and practical — soft, sturdy, warm, holds up with regular washings, and has pockets. I sized up to a M so it would have a little extra room.

Was anyone else really into Limited Too when they were younger? I remember pining after their fuzzy slippers when I was a tween, so fuzzy slippers feel nostalgic to me. It was such a thrill when my husband gave me this pair for Christmas. They are just so ridiculously fuzzy — which taps into that nostalgia. But! They are neutral/leopard — which matches my vibe now.

Here’s the outfit formula:

  • Start with yoga pants and a simple base layer tee, all in a similar black/charcoal shade.
  • Then add a cozy robe on top.
  • Next, up the warmth factor with cozy socks and a beanie.
  • Then finish with some fuzzy slippers.

• • •

And there you have it!

So tell me, have you given up on wearing real clothes for the rest of winter? What do you find yourself wearing again and again these last winter days?

Til next time, see you around on Pinterest and LTK!

xo,

Ugh, we are SO over winter here, too. It was snowing again in WA today.
The outfits above are so cute, but would never fly at my work (law office), so I am wearing a more dressed up version of your outfits today!
Black pencil leggings – they’re leggings but of a more sturdy material so I can wear them to work, if that makes sense? I don’t know what you would call them, work leggings? lol, a longer cream fuzzy cowl-neck sweater, fuzzy socks (from Sock Club!) and my trusty oxblood Dr. Marten boots. I spiced it up by wearing the socks on the outside of the pants so they pop for a little interest.

Ok, you’ve converted me to teddy coats. You’re rocking it! I’ve been reaching for my wool blazer over and over again this winter. It’s cozy and chic!

I work in an office too, but this TX weather has thrown me for a loop (especially this week!! It was like 24 degrees here the other day – and today the high is 71 ?). I’ve been living in dresses, leggings, and riding boots. Predictable and boring? Maybe. But I have too many cute dresses that I’m itching to wear, because hello, it’s March, and time to pull out the spring stuff. It’s also the coziest office-friendly combo I’ve found, because it lets me get away with wearing leggings and fuzzy socks to work!

My black puffer down vest. I can wear it both under and over other layers. Keeps me warm and allows my arms free for cooking dinner. Can’t live without it.

    PS from Patricia Kay:
What color would you choose if no cream sweater coat?
