Just a quick tip today:

I got these shoes a few years ago and they’ve become my go to when I want a comfy heel. The wedge heel is made of rubber — it makes them feel like tennis shoes.

I can walk in ’em for days. And still have a smile on my face.

If you’re on the hunt for some heels that are seriously comfortable:

1. Go with a wedge heel.

2. If possible, go with an all-rubber wedge heel.

Do you have any tips for finding comfortable heels + making heels more comfortable?

Top: Anthropologie (similar)

Bottoms: Gap (similar)

Shoes: J.Crew (similar for less)

Bag: Marc Jacobs (similar for way less)

Necklace: Handmade (similar)

I bought ankle boots inspired by yours. :D Actually, I walked into Marshall’s looking for a chair and walked out with clearanced boots instead. Seriously, that never happens. :) I’m loving getting tips from you and Pinterest in how to style them! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I LOVE this outfit. Looks so comfortable, especially that sweater!

It’s funny, I’ve been wearing heels all through my pregnancy so far and people think I’m nuts but there really is a method to finding walkable heels. There’s a few tips I follow to make sure my heels are comfortable. If it’s a pump or anything with a pointy toe, I always go half a size larger to allow my feet a little room to expand. Otherwise, the chunkier the heel, the more walkable it is. Same goes with platforms, any heel with a platform, even a small one will be more comfortable and easy to walk in. I also second your tip on wedges! I have a few pairs of wedge heel boots I live in during the winter being they’re safer to wear when it’s snowing and icy but still gives me the height I’m looking for.

Love these! Although all the boots I’ve found are a suede-ish material and I worry about them getting wet and discoloring.

Gwen.

TOMS has some great desert wedges that are cute, comfy and are for a great cause! I have a pair in grey and I love them!

    Caroline-
What brand is your poncho sweater? I know it’s from Anthro but since they carry so many brands was hoping I might be able to track down a similar one from the same brand :)

    thanks!

I have the same pair of wedges, years old, and I’d love to know how you keep these clean! Mine are looking a little worse for wear.

Hi Meggie! I avoid suede now too — bought these before I realized how suede can be tricky to keep clean. But somehow, these shoes have made it alright with zero special treatment. I’m pretty tough on them, wearing them in the rain even. Upon closer inspection, mine are pretty dingy. But for some reason it doesn’t bother me. It’s kind of freeing because I don’t have to worry about keeping them perfect. :) xo Caroline

There’s a spray you can buy that I think is made by 3M – not sure if it’s the Scotchguard stuff, but it’ll both waterproof and protect suede. It may darken them a little but it works great. (I live in Seattle so I’m always “afraid” to buy suede because it’s so wet.)

Love those shoes! I actually bought the “similar for less” pair that you linked to in grey for my fall capsule. I can vouch for their comfort!

If I can get my act together this week, I’m hoping to submit for your guest blogger series! Either way, really looking forward to seeing the collaborations.

I wish I can pull off wedges. I have athletic thigs so I look like I’m about to fall over since it looks disproportionate lol

I’m still trying to work up the courage to send my application… I find myself overthinking the outfit photo that goes along with it. I have plenty of text.

Go for it, Tania! I see you commenting encouraging and really thoughtful advice all the time here. You’d be a great fit. Photographs are something that you can continuously work on, so I wouldn’t hesitate to send in an application because of that. :)

I have the opposite problem. I have my cute little outfit and happy little photos, but I’m stuck on the text. I love my capsule wardrobe, and I’m good at putting together unfussy yet thoughtful outfits, but I’m stuck on feeling that I’m not the sort of person who should be giving fashion advice. :p

Don’t wear cheap shoes!!!! Invest in footwear. The more quality the construction of the heel the more comfortable they are. Cole Haan, JCrew, Stuart Weizmann. All strangely comfortable especially If you stay under 4 inches. Ideally 3.

I have to agree with this! And it doesn’t even have to be super expensive, but the heels I can consistently wear (and I am a comfort-first girl for sure!) are a pair of wedges by Cole-Haan and another chunkier heel from Clarks. Born is another favorite, but I have to look harder to find the cute ones :)

I also tend to stay with brands that make shoes primarily rather than buying shoes from clothing manufacturers. I find they are often better quality and construction which translates to more comfy.

One of my favorite outfits for sure! I love the simplicity of an interesting sweater and skinny pants. And those shoes…I’m dying for a pair to add to my very minimal fall/winter shoe collection!

Caroline, you wear a lot of black. Which I’m a huge fan of. I love black. But one thing I hate? LINT. How do you battle lint? I know you have a dog, so you must have experience with lint/dog hair. HELP!?

Hi Kayla! Your comment made me smile because, yeahhhh, there’s a lot of dog hair going on in our apartment. :) :) I just buy the extra large lint rollers and keep them handy. My black jeans definitely have to be lint rolled with every wear. :) xo Caroline

Glad to know there are others who keep lint rollers handy for regular use. I swear I lint roll five times a day when wearing black. =) Lint rollers unite!!

I love these wedges! I bought the same pair last year in grey, and they are the comfiest boots I own, you’re so right about them feeling like sneakers with that rubber heel. Be sure to spray them with some suede waterproof protector. X.
