Happy day before Thanksgiving!
This outfit. Cute enough for grown-ups table + casual enough to play on the floor with your little nieces and nephews. Warm enough hover over the fire pit outside and roast mallows, but then shed a few layers, and it’s cool enough for a house crowded with relatives and body heat.
Perfect Thanksgiving outfit, if you ask me.
Although, I have this fantasy of having a formal Thanksgiving dinner where we play classical music and all wear really fancy clothes.
That would be fun.
But going casual is fun too.
My family doesn’t really dress up for Thanksgiving — or I guess I should say, this type of outfit is our version of dressing up.
What about you? Does your family dress up? If so, will you invite me over?

I’m taking the next two days off to enjoy Thanksgiving with my dear family, but I’ll see you again on Monday, December 1st! :)

I am the same way! Always see everyone’s dressy cute outfits on Pinterest and think…”oh! that would be so fun!” But then I show up to my parent’s house in jeans and a few hours later I am glad I am not sucking it in with my cocktail attire. Regardless of what we wear…Thanksgiving is about family time and thankfulness!!! So happy Thanksgiving to you and your sweet little family!
We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Belgium… But next year I want to secretly join in by throwing a “friendsgiving” party :D
Caroline, just wanted to pop over & give you some love. I really enjoy your posts because they always give me inspo on how I can mix pieces I own. I have never wanted a fancy Thanksgiving but that’s probably because we have 4 kids so anything too fancy would certainly be disastrous. Haha. Plus with all the cooking (& then cleaning) I have to do the last thing I feel like doing is putting on some heels. Maybe if someone invites me over for their dressy Thanksgiving I’ll go. And then let them do all the dishes & cleaning up. ;) Thanks again for the outfit inspo!
Love this outfit! So effortlessly cool!

I always feel like I should get a little dressed up, but T-day seems like a casual holiday so I think I’ll abandon that philosophy this year and wear my rip and repair jeans too :). They’re so cute and comfortable. I’m trying to pack light so I might just wind up wearing them through the whole weekend. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow! This looks like the perfect holiday outfit. Although my family don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (I’m a Scot in England and neither country partakes) this is the kind of thing I’d wear on Christmas. Cosy and casual but still totally chic.
And since it’s time to give thanks – I’m thankful that I found your wonderful blog. It’s always a joy to read.

This is perfect. Come to our house!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Caroline!! xo
I have been looking for an outfit for Thanksgiving, and this is perfect. Thank you so much!
Ha! My family is the same way. We always dress super casual, and I’m always daydreaming about having a reason to buy a nice holiday party dress. But nope, we do it up in jeans. Sometimes if I’m feeling really fancy I’ll wear a sweater dress and tights, but then I’ll hear about how “nice” I look all night. :) Happy Thanksgiving!
I am considering that shoe and searching for a pair of the older version as I’ve read it’s better made than the currently available option. I was wondering if you are typically a half size in shoes and whether these worked better sized up or down?
Thanks!
Dearest Caroline,
Somehow, I think that your 4.35 ONE AWESOME OUTFIT HACK outfit (yesterday) was a bit nicer for Thanksgiving dinner–maybe because for me it has a more festive look with the scarf.
Just a suggestion….
Happy Thanksgiving!

I don’t remember seeing this shirt in your Fall capsule. Is it going to be a part of your Winter capsule?
Just heard your interview on the Lively show. Thank you so much for keeping your blog real! I LOVE that I can read your blog and learn about fashion and go away feeling empowered instead of feeling down on myself. I related to what you said about getting sucked into pinterest and blogs and the show. Just grateful to know your blog won’t become “one of those” blogs.
Aahh, I love this! You are always so good about putting together different colors + patterns and making it look just right. <3 Love this outfit!
Thanks for making the capsule wardrobe make so much sense. I’m trying it out and as a college student/pretending to be an urban professional, I found it a little hard on 37 pieces so I actually went up to 45. Plus I live in Boston so the weather is a little wonky. Looking to see how this goes. I’m so pumped.
