6.10 side part!

04/07/15

yayspring-332 yayspring-333 yayspring-334 yayspring-336

Whoa! What do you think of the side part?!

I think I’m totally digging it. Although right now, I think my bangs are just a liiiiitle too short to pull it off and not constantly fuss with it. But in a few weeks, this might be my new everyday look.

I think I’m actually ready to think about growing out my bangs. I’ve loved them, and I’m actually looking forward to all the styles I can try as they are growing. Like anything in life, it’s all about how you approach it. Sure, it can be a pain to grow them out, but it can also be an opportunity to experiment. The side part will probably be my first experiment, and I’m pretty excited about it.

What do you think? Any tips for styling bangs as they’re growing? Any of you growing out your bangs?

Blazer: Aritzia

Tee: old from Madewell (this year’s version)

Shorts: Nordstrom

Shoes: old from Dolce Vita (similar)

Bag: Nordstrom (also, leather version)

I love the side part, it suits you really well :) Those shorts are great, I like that they are bit longer but with the same casual vibe as regular cut-offs.

    Hi Caroline!

the side part looks GREAT. i have been wanting to say, (but felt weird about it as I’ve gotten to know you a bit but you know nothing about me) that you should try having your hair flatter on top with more width to the side. just back comb at the roots from your temples backwards. It will help balance out your facial proportions. I have a very similar cut to you at the moment that I am growing out, and I tend to keep it rough as that’s just my style. also, I live in Sydney Australia, I’m 27, studying to be a teacher, and married.

Yes to the side part! It looks adorable with your lob … and it’s so spring-y. Change is GOOD! I’m also in the process of growing my bangs out (same length now as yours). A few favorite styles in current rotation ….. braiding the bangs to the side (with a side part) and securing with a bobby pin & pulling some hair forward to hide the bobby pin, floppy sun hat or baseball hat, and a top knot with the bangs twisted back and slightly to the side and pinned in place. Hooray for bobby pins!

When I was growing out My bangs I would Hair wax to keep them to The side. It would look completely natural AND keep them in place!

    Hi Caroline,
I just recently got my bangs but im not satisfied with how it looks on me so im growing them out now ;)
i think you look beatiful with the side part. Makes you look much more classic.
Some tips for growing out your bangs.
Sometimes i dont like having the hair in my face or even batter in my eyes :) so i just take a a little hair climp and put them aside. You can also try braiding your bangs.
I have one question: how is your hair cut? Do you have layers?

Hey Caroline! I’m growing out mine just now—accidentally cut them to Bettie Page length and even though I loved my look, I’m quite ready for something new… Tentatively going towards side-swept :) Since yours are much longer, you can consider pinning them down in some ways or maybe braiding them? :)

Also, I have to say this: you look SO LOVELY with more of your face showing! Like in the 3rd picture, just amazing! I know, bangs are cool, but you look, hm, a lot more radiant now :)

I grew mine out not that long ago and when I was in that “to long to wear down, but to short to wear to the side” I would do a twist with the bangs and pin to the side. I love that look and it was great for the growing out stage which feels like forever.

This just reminds me what difference is between climate does for my capsule and my seasons.
I count now is spring here in Helsinki, Finland, but still temperature is just +2 to +8 celsius, so in my spring closet there is no shorts :)
But my spring clothes are so much lighter than during winter season.

Spring here can be anything between winter snowstorm and sunny warm days, so approaching this season from capsule wardrobe angle is quite excting.

Caroline, you look so pretty and those shorts are PERFECT. I really want to buy a pair!

Also, I have had bangs forever and when they get too long, I often french braid them to the side or flip them back into a little bump with bobby pins. You can also rock the T Swift!

Funny you post this because I’m just getting ready to start middle parting again after several side-part years, and I’m going to chop off my mostly-grown-out bangs. I find bobby pins useful when growing out bangs. There are a bunch of cute ways to pin the hair back when it’s at that awkward stage where it’s too long to go in front of your face but too short to tuck behind your ear.

By the way, I’m thinking about getting the Bumble and Bumble texture cream you mentioned. Do you have to use some sort of heat tool to make your hair wavy with it? Do you have to use the B&B texture cream AND hairspray to make the waves stay or does the texture cream do the trick? Have you used it in a humid location? Any tips?

I just went through growing out my bangs last year! I rocked a lot of middle parts with them clipped back, but the side part looks great! Also, mini french braids w/ bangs are your friend! :)

I think that you look nice with and without the bangs. However, if I had to chose, I would pick the side part. You have a lovely face and should show it. :)

So when I was growing out my bangs, I adopted the side bang look. I never had tried it before, but I found that it was my best look to date. Now I always have side bangs. Best happy accident ever.

LOVE the side part! Looks great on you. I don’t think they’re too short for it even! It took me almost 2 years to grow my bangs out because I kept getting annoyed with them and trimming “just a little” (#hairstylistprobs ;) ). So my best advice is just to commit to growing them out + no trimming them until they’re passed the awkward stage! And I also second the braids, bobby pins & hats advice! :)

Ugh! I go thru bangs drama about every 2 years. i’ll get a hankering for bangs, get them, then hate them & grow them out again. my hair grows slowly, so it seems to take about 2 years for them to fully grow out to shoulder length & then…..i’ll cut them again.

i’ve told all my friends to STOP me when i say i want bangs!

With summer coming up, do a little Dutch braid in your bangs with a side part. It keeps the bangs contained very well and looks cute!

The trick to gracefully growing out bangs is to cut them at a angle and sweep them to one side. The shorter side helps push and hold them over to the side and as they grow longer they turn into a face framing layer.

I am all about the side parting! I have had one since I was 12. I often think about trying out a middle parting but can never quite bring myself to do it! I am also growing out my bangs, or fringe as we call it in the UK. I do this a lot, I want a change but can’t do much with my hair so I get a fringe get bored after a few months and grow it out again. If only it was quicker and easier to do! I would probably change it daily!

I find that as it grows I love the way it sits. Every day thinking ooo I love it this length, ooo I love it even more today. But I have started to think about styling it, like pinning it back or braiding it. Let me know if you find any good ideas! :)
