Capsule #2 // Outfit 52
What do you think of the knotted shirt? I’ve been wearing it more lately (like here) and I think I’m into it, even thought it’s a little more retro than I usually go. I tried to go more cool with this outfit and wear the shirt open, but it made me look like a blob. So I tied it, and well, that’s the story of this outfit.
Dress: Ann Taylor (similar)
Shirt: J.Crew — on sale!
Bag: Emma Fox (similar)
Bangles: Madewell
Shoes: American Eagle (similar for a steal)
Looks good! I like that combo.
Hi, Caroline–
Happy 52nd outfit post! While I have a few pieces similar to yours, my style is very not your style…and yet I’ve really enjoyed seeing someone post the ACTUAL outfits made out of the ACTUAL pieces in a real, everyday, unfancy capsule wardrobe. Your looks are practical, creative and stylish but never stupidly out there.
Also, I agree with your shoe philosophy. : ) The shoes give the fundamental flavor to an outfit, and most of us could use more shoes to make fewer clothes work. I can’t get by with fewer than 6 pairs, but I might try 9 like you and see what other things can go!
Hi, Caroline! I discovered you yesterday and am already obsessed. I have a question: is the shirt that this post links to actually the one you’re wearing? It looks so different–and so much better on you than that one does on the model!
Hi Caroline! I’m going through all your posts from the beginning after hearing you on “The Lively Show”. I love your style girl! This is one of my favorite outfits so far. I’m a fellow lover of blue jeans blue, black, white and cognac! Keep doing what you’re doing! I just recently cleaned out my closet and I’m working with minimal pieces. I want to start putting some serious thought into buying key investment pieces for a capsule wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration!
